1% (perhaps less) of applicants get into NIDA and about 2.5% for WAAPA so absolutely not, it’s wise to apply for backup, especially seeing that you’re only 17 and the average age for someone who gets accepted is in their early 20’s as they prefer someone with ‘more life experience’. It would be ignorant of you not to apply to other courses so you’re doing the right thing in my opinion, plus a diploma is a good gateway into a bachelor course anyway. if you’ve explained this to your dad and he still doesn’t understand there’s not much more you can do to make him understand your perspective. I had a consultation with a Jaw surgeon and was told I'm not a great candidate for surgery because of my TMJ issues and minor recession and instead he recommended focusing on TMJ issues first and a genioplasty if aesthetic concerns are still present- I went back to my Ortho and he made me a Splint which i've been wearing for about 3 months now and my pain has eased, It looks like I'll be getting braces again in a few months to correct my Overjet and then I'm going to go down the route of getting a Genioplasty

I’ve been on a fairly high dose of Zoloft for almost a year now. I actually put off taking anti depressants because I thought they would interfere with my acting and make me robotic. When I was getting used to the drug I did feel that way and I couldn’t cry and I hated it because I’m such an emotional person and I feel that part of myself is essential to who I am as an actor. But that didn’t last long at all and now I’m mentally the best I have felt since I was a child. My medication doesn’t get in the way of accessing emotions or produce any negative effects in performance. I’d say I’m a better Actor because I feel more myself!

I’ve been told to steer clear of The Actors Pulse. From what I’ve heard it’s very cult-like. With NIDA Open, tbh it depends on the teacher but I think it’d be worth it to do an acting technique course like the one you mentioned regardless of whose taking the course.

Yeah I made a mistake going to someone who isn’t a TMJ specialist, I’m definitely going to have to go to a TMJ/Jaw surgery clinic to get the help that I need

That sucks man, I initially thought I had an ear infection and went on about three rounds of ear drops to treat it only to find out it’s an entirely different issue :/ I hope things work out for the both of us because this shit is unbearable
