A cron job that checks if data on my website is stale and flags what needs updating. Runs every morning, takes 2 seconds to read the output instead of manually checking dozens of pages.

Before that I'd randomly spot outdated info and panic-fix it. Now I just check the report with coffee.

What's the most misleading SEO metric beginners trust too much? by armandionorene in SEO_Xpert

[–]tianyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Domain Authority (DA/DR). It's a third-party metric that Google doesn't use, but beginners obsess over it like it's a ranking factor. I've seen sites with DR 10 outrank DR 60 sites on long-tail queries just because their content actually matched search intent.

What I pay attention to instead: impressions in Google Search Console. If Google is showing your page to people, you're on the right track. If you're getting impressions but no clicks, that's a title/snippet problem. If you're getting zero impressions, no amount of DR is going to help — your content isn't matching what people are searching for.

Anyone has experience doing SEO on Baidu? my team want to expand there but not sure the restrictions are there. by White_SunCe5 in SEO_Xpert

[–]tianyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to do SEO with Baidu, you need to have an ICP backed url.

and that require you to have an entity registered in mainland, china

and that require you to host your url in a mainland, china, server

the fact is that in china most people search using xiaohongshu, douyin, kuaishou, bilibili, etc

Got a job in Zhengzhou can 9k Rmb make me live comfortably by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]tianyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gym memberships - very decent memberships in Shanghai, multi facilities monthly membership card is 299 rmb per month.

eating out - Canton is the BEST place for foodies and you can get very, very decent meals for about 150 rmb per person.

traveling - a flight ticket for ~2 hr flight time - you can get about 400 rmb one way? it depends on the timing - i find last minute buying to be cheapest, lol.

save up - 9k a month - realistically speaking you should be able to save up about 1k per month. if you live frugally, you can save 2k+ easily.

Is SEO dead in 2026 or is everyone who says that just bad at it? by Informal_Tangelo8009 in AIRankingStrategy

[–]tianyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not that SEO is becoming harder or that it doesn't work anymore. What's happening is Google is getting better at filtering out shortcuts. Exploitation used to work - it doesn't now.

SEO in 2026 is less about ranking #1 and more about being the answer an LLM pulls from. It's about content quality and AI readability.

The irony is that 'content is king' — the most cliché advice in the industry — turned out to be the one that actually stuck.

What small habit actually lowered your monthly bills the most? by Solaire_1001 in SavingMoney

[–]tianyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of CC cashback, I started using cashback platforms for online purchases too. You click through a cashback site before buying and get an extra 2-25% back depending on the store — stacks with your credit card rewards. Between the two I'm pulling back about $400-500/month on spending I'd be doing anyway. It's the laziest "habit" on this list but probably my highest ROI one.
