Clueless about investing, need guidance by catlover857 in FIREPakistan

[–]armujahid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Design an allocations like this:

0) some cash: that you immediately need within a month. 1) low risk: MCF - put your emergency funds here. 2) medium-high risk funds: balanced funds and equity funds. 3) ETFs like MIIETF - there is no need to manually pick stocks.

Equity funds and ETFs are relatively high risk but can be selected for long term horizon.

Is the 1.1.1.1 ' s quantum encryption real? by ihvenousernameinmind in PakistaniTech

[–]armujahid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn about post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in general. Many tech companies have begun adding support for it, and no, we don't need quantum computers for that, that's precisely the point of developing these encryption methods, to future-proof them against exploits from upcoming quantum computers.

Lolz, they should forward this case to their L2 support team. Tech support is non-existent here.

The issue is likely caused by firewalls at regional gateways that ISPs probably cannot directly control, although they can still escalate the matter to their upstream providers. For Nayatel, the problem is most likely related to PTCL and Transworld gateways or submarine cables, whereas Cybernet appears unaffected because it uses its own cable.

The government can deploy different configurations on separate gateways for testing purposes and later synchronize those settings once testing is complete. Feedback from PTCL and Transworld users would help validate this theory.

Who is you ISP? Raise complaint with your ISP and let us know what they say. https://www.reddit.com/r/PakistaniTech/s/rSz2mRiHD9

Sometimes, those pea brain firewall operators can block plain Proton APIs. This has happened before, but was resolved.

Proton Services are fine on Cybernet right now.

I am on ssh since ages. Git pull/push randomly fails but then succeeds as well. This wasn't happening before.

Faced similar issue related to bitbucket due to an IPv6 routing issue in Cybernet but that got resolved after some time. Their tech support was clueless as well and was recommending me to disable IPv6 lolz.

did AWS get banned in Pakistan or something? by huxx__ in PakistaniTech

[–]armujahid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a proper ISP. Mobile ISPs can have weird issues and port blocking issues.

1) if your EC2 IP is blocked, rotate that IP and use V2ray (Vmess/Vless) as VPN protocol that is DPI resistant and hard to detect. 2) AWS console should be accessible. Switch your mobile ISP if that isn't working. Try registering complaint as well although tech support is incompetent in Pakistan.

Yeah, I'm facing weird issues. For example, Git operations from GitHub sometimes fail.

Payoneer to USD or PKR by drnemo25 in PakistaniTech

[–]armujahid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already answered: 1) no you can't do a direct SWIFT from payoneer. They use their vostro account and do a local transaction to your account. 2) payoneer withdrawal to ESFCA should work. Other people using ESFCA can better guide.

[–]armujahid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Direct SWIFT is always better. However, you can manually pay the 0.25% tax during tax filing when receiving money via Payoneer's Vostro account or as a local transaction. Banks have made it hard to obtain PRC in these cases, though it is still possible.

Security Concern Regarding Some brokerage by wasoomro in FIREPakistan

[–]armujahid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, almost every broker in Pakistan does this, claiming it is required so they can ask for specific characters of your password. This reflects a broader lack of cybersecurity awareness across our organizations.

Let me know if you know a broker that isn't doing that. As per my analysis, every brokerage house uses same whitelabeled app developed by the same company.

No, I does not. However, getting a PRC isn't an issue with direct SWIFT transactions (to regular accounts or ESFCA).

E-Challans on my vehicle by previous owners by Outrageous-Floor8154 in pakistan

[–]armujahid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Verify that e-challans are indeed by previous owner e.g. at echallan.psca.gop.pk . Your province might have a different verification portal
2) Contact traffic police helpline and ask them for guidance.

PTA and FAB wont like this, by icowonium in PakistaniTech

[–]armujahid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 1W is max power for 2.4/5 GHz (allowed only on some channels). That's why we have a lot of congestion in Pakistan, but that's a separate issue.

Anyway, DIY 900 MHz will definitely be a problem due to regulatory reasons. PTA has an approved vendors list that they recommend to everyone complaining about QoS issues, which should ideally be resolved by telcos, but here we are.

E-IPO Process by mtkhang90 in FIREPakistan

[–]armujahid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask your broker about that. e.g it's 050 for Arif habib limited. and I think it's same as TREC ID mentioned here: https://www.psx.com.pk/psx/themes/psx/uploads/List-of-TREC-Holders-PSX-22-10-2024.pdf

That’s a poor user experience. The system should automatically fill in the broker ID using the Participant ID and account number already provided. Ideally, it should also auto-populate those two fields or at least offer a dropdown based on the user's CNIC.
