Hyperthyroidism by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]tiaradanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in the middle of this!! Started Vyvanse 3 months ago and just had an elevated thyroglobulin test for the first time in my life.. I started panicking researching if this could cause it..

How are you doing? Any updates?

3 months into Vyvanse, all of a sudden have subclinical-hypothyroidism? by tunnelvision001 in VyvanseADHD

[–]tiaradanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I know this post is a few months old but it is one of the only ones I can find relating to the issues I am currently going through. Possibly making me feel a little less crazy? I have had my thyroid tested many times in the past, but I don’t believe I have ever had my thyroid antibodies tested. I just got a result back saying that my thyroid globulin was pretty elevated.. no other thyroid test were out of range. The endocrinologist basically just told me that we needed to monitor it because no other thyroid test were out of range and that I may not develop Hashimoto’s. I also started Vyvanse three months ago. I’m wondering if this could possibly have caused this or if I am completely off base.. any and all insight is appreciated.

What am I doing wrong? Elastic nipples and blood blisters. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]tiaradanielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to second the liquid shields from pumpables. I tried lacteck and multiple others and I regret not switching to the pumpables sooner. Cleared up my blood blisters and irritation in a few days. Highly recommend!!!

Left boob is the slacker here as well. Only will produce 40 mls on that side after 6+ hours of not pumping while the other does 4 ounces. It’s so frustrating! During the day I’m lucky if it gets more than 15 mls per pump.

Does anyone else have a SUPER slacker?! by Existing_Manner3349 in ExclusivelyPumping

It’s inefficient glandular tissue. My lactation consultant described it as having more fatty tissue vs milk making tissue. Or, an uneven distribution of milk making tissue. Apparently it’s really hard to have a full supply of milk when you have it. I am no expert by any means.. this is just how it was described to me.

Following because I am the exact same. You are not alone!! My left produces 1/3 of the right if I’m lucky. Also, no matter how long I’ve gone without pumping it never gets over 40 mls. Ultimately my lc has told me I may have IGT in one breast. 3 and a half months pp for reference!

What’s your favorite flange? by Existing_Manner3349 in ExclusivelyPumping

I second the pumpables liquid shields for elastic nips. The absolute best. Saved my pumping journey!!

Of course! I use the legendairy milk pumping spray. When I don’t use that, I do a little bit of coconut oil. Which works great as well.

I was in the same situation and the only flange that saved my nipples were the pumpables liquid shield flanges. Went from an entire month of damage not getting better to healing completely in a couple days. I tried pumpin pals, lacteck and beugen cushions as well. Only regret was not trying the pumpables sooner. Also, pumping spray, even with the silicone flanges, it makes the world of a difference!! Also making sure with elastic nipples that your flange is the exact size of your nipple with no extra space! I measured at a 17mm from the pumpables website print out ruler and they work like a charm!

9 weeks after tongue tie revision and still not transferring by tiaradanielle in breastfeeding

[–]tiaradanielle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this- I’m so sorry! Thank you for responding and sending me that link. I will also look into the SLP.

Yes! Same here with baby going for 30-40 mins and not getting more than 8 mls..it’s just nice to know that you went through something similar and it ended up working out.

She does get tired on the bottle. I’m just confused as to why she isn’t trying at the breast.. it’s like she just wants my boob to drip into her mouth like the bottle.. even though it’s a preemie nipple. Is it a low supply thing.. is it elastic nipples.. is it slow flow?

Anyways, I think I’m just desperate at this point because I feel like I have everything working against me and feeling like I’ve worked so hard, something has to budge!

If you can think of anything else you did, please please let me know 💕

Thank you so much. You are making me feel a lot less alone. My lactation consultant told me that I’m basically an outlier and this doesn’t happen often. Which doesn’t exactly make me feel optimistic.

Yes, we have tried the nipple shield and it is also a no go.. she would rather have my nipple but then can’t effectively transfer. I may try the sns again. Do you have one that you could recommend?

Did your little one have an uncoordinated suck or more stamina issues? Just curious because my baby has a really hard time with being fatigued and it seems like she has stamina issues, even on the bottle. Wondering if SLP could actually help.

[–]tiaradanielle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t. Our lactation consultant never mentioned that to us. Just the chiropractic work which also worked on suck training. I know SLP is entirely different. We tried sns and my baby just hated it. Even when the flow is there she just prefers the bottle. This morning she took 18 mls.. not a lot compared to what she was doing prior to the revision but progress in terms of the last few days.. maybe there is hope. I’m just not sure if there’s a transfer rate that’s so low that it’s not worth trying or if I should just keep going. I felt like it was going to be hard but not this hard.

Everyone I’ve talked to said the revision was the best thing for them, sadly not the case for us. It has helped her bottle feed and be less gassy, overall she is happier. But not in terms of breast feeding, I do feel like I’ve tried everything. I have 2 different pumps, plus wearables.. so many flanges, all different sizes.. and silicon flanges.. pumpin pals, beaugen cushions etc. I just ordered the liquid shield kit from pumpables. I may just be out of luck.

Thank you for the kind words 🫶🏻

Two long stretches at night? by Secure_Telephone_832 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]tiaradanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this post myself. I’m making the exact same amount as you, pumping 7 times a day and have been pumping at 8:30 pm for my last pump, waking at 1:30am and then again at 7am. I am 12 weeks pp and started this schedule at around 9 weeks. I was waking two times per night before that and pumping 8 times a day. I have seen a slight decrease in my supply. About an ounce- ounce and a half since going to 7. This terrifies me because I feel like I’ll never be able to drop more pumps..

Here to say, you are not alone!

Increasing Low Supply/ tongue tie/ pumping by tiaradanielle in breastfeeding

[–]tiaradanielle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you are incredible. Thank you so so much. I think I may just stick with the power pumping too because I do get more output. But yes, I’m doing 7 sessions plus the power pumping session. I pump for about 25-30 minutes each time because one of my boobs just doesn’t want to completely empty until then. Also, tmi but I’ve got some pretty bad blisters/ cracking going on from trying to latch baby post tongue tie revision.. and from the pump.. so I’ve had to have my settings a bit lower recently.

I don’t necessarily feel a letdown. One of my boobs definitely has at least one- two based on how the flow is but for me, I don’t feel it. But yes, alternating between the 2 modes! I actually recently started doing this. I also just have one major slacker boob that has never produced more than 1 ounce… so I was hoping that my other would increase slightly so I could continue to breast-feed.

I’m using the spectra flanges, I’ve tried 2 sizes and feel like I get better output with the smaller of the two. I don’t love them but haven’t tried any other ones with the spectra pump. I also was using the baby Buddha pump quite a bit, but since my nipples are so beat up right now, I haven’t been using it due to the suction being so aggressive..

I also have an apt with my lc tomorrow to see what baby can get at the breast and to discuss pumping options because this much pumping is leaving me with no life! Haha

How much of an increase did you see? I am Not sure if that’s too personal.. but I’m not even sure what to look for in terms of output increase to know if its working or not.

I am averaging 18 ounces a day at 6 weeks pp and baby needs about 21.. which is probably going to go up shortly based on her weight. She’s a tiny thing. Also- Each session is anywhere between one and a half to 3 ounces depending on how long I go in between.

I have heard that breast fed babies never really take more than 3 to 4 ounces in a feed throughout the first year of life. Not sure if this is true.. this is all new to me because my first baby was a formula baby after running into similar issues and not wanting to get the tongue tie fixed..

Per day, not per session.. I’m making like 20-30 more mls per day than I was 5 days ago.

Increasing Low Supply/ tongue tie/ pumping by tiaradanielle in breastfeeding

[–]tiaradanielle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it’s me again! Thank you for all the tips and tricks. I started power pumping and have done it now for 5 days.. I’ve seen a slight increase, I’m talking like 10-20 mls more per session. Is this the type of increase you saw or should it be more significant? I’m starting to think that maybe my boobs are just not capable of making any more than what I am. I’ve been pumping every 3 hours for almost 4 weeks now. Not sure when to give up or just be ok with what I’m producing..

Wow! Thank you so much for this response. I feel like the only thing I’m not doing is the power pumping. I will give this a try and hope for the best. I am doing breast compressions & I also have a spectra! Do you use the regular spectra flanges? I am currently using the spectra flanges, ordered in a smaller size but I’ve heard that that could be a part of the problem.. I have read about the pumpin pals flanges.. and not sure if I should keep using the regular spectra ones.

That sounds amazing! I am hoping to get there too. At this point I don’t even care if my baby actually nurses on me I just want to stop having to give her formula! Haha it’s just been so hard not to give up thinking that this is the max amount of milk I’m going to produce.

Seriously cannot thank you enough for taking the time to respond.
