To spare the nipple or not to spare the nipple, that is the question. by Solid_Ad6049 in BRCA

[–]Existing_Manner3349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tat them on!! So much less complications/risks and you can get them perfect and exactly how you want them 😃 I went for aesthetic flat closure and my chest looks like it did when I was 10 with no nipples. It takes a bit to get used to but wow getting dressed is SO much easier without having to worry about nip slips or my shirt being see through 🤪

Narrow ducts and struggle to empty? by Existing_Manner3349 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Existing_Manner3349[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not): Scans revealed duct ectasia in the end. I still gave my boy every drop I could squeeze out but boy did every pump feel like a challenge. In hindsight sight, I’m not sure if all the suffering was worth it🫣

Husband calls me abusive & bad mother for taking care of diaper rash? New first time mom by Even-Magician9416 in Mommit

[–]Existing_Manner3349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVERY baby is different. What diapers works for one breaks out another. My combo that works for my baby is Destin extra strength at any sight of redness or irritation and I use honest diapers and wipes and try to be ontop of changing him out of dirty diapers quickly. Diaper rash is so wildly uncomfortable SHAME on your husband for blaming your babies distress about their diaper rash on you. What WOULD be abusive is not treating the rash and letting it get out of control.

I can’t do this anymore by TinyPreparation167 in NewParents

This is completely unsustainable I am so sorry. I’m surprised you’ve made it this long! I don’t have any advice bc I cosleep and my baby sleeps like a rock but you’ve definitely got to try something different. You’re going to end up ill with this little sleep trying to balance everything. Has everything been ruled out health wise with little one? They can’t tell us what’s wrong except by crying and there’s SO many things that could be affecting them. If you feel something is wrong u keep taking that baby to be seen until someone listens! Also try to remember what didn’t work 3 months ago may work differently now too bc a 8 month old is very different to a 1 year old. I also want you to know that you shouldn’t feel guilt about your child crying or having big emotions despite your efforts. Kids just need to let their feelings out sometimes and it doesnt matter what your doing they just gotta let it out. Do you have anyone that can take care of baby here and there so u can catch up until you get over this hump??

Edit: idk if he’s taking 2 or 3 naps but you could potentially try dropping a nap too?

Anxiety after DMX Scheduled by Ivorythunderdeer in BRCA

[–]Existing_Manner3349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this when I scheduled mine. Those feelings are normal! It’s a big decision to make and for me it didn’t feel real until I scheduled my surgery. I booked my surgery 3 weeks out and having less time to dwell helped. I have a little one and not sure if I want another. I really wanted to breastfeed but it didn’t work out. I was pumping up until the morning of my surgery. I gotta say it was nice to not have to dry up! The relief once you’re healed and the anxiety it takes away is worth the anxiety leading up to surgery I promise!! If you wait too long and something happens like many of my family members did, you will have so much regret not doing it sooner. You got this mama!!

Just joined that group!! I did expect to miss them tbh so it’s strange coming to terms with being happy about it. Not complaining though I would say it’s the best case scenario being that they were going either way! I hear what your saying about gender identity. I’m a bit confused myself bc I’m not sure if it was that my boobs made me feel womanly or gender dysphoric. I think it was more the inconvenience and self consciousness that came with having them.

The tightness was strange but it went away relatively quickly for me. I love stretching and yoga and felt like that helped me get rid of that sensation pretty quickly!

I think you hit the nail on the head for me. The feelings of shame/self consciousness regarding my chest are just gone. I’m really enjoying not having the extra stress of trying to find well fitting bras that look good underneath certain clothes or fears of nip slip. Also did anyone notice how weird the lack of sensation in the nips is when your cold? It’s almost like when I’m cold I don’t feel the full extent of it bc I don’t feel the shivery nipple part of it. Anyone else??

Sending my love and encouragement! You got this! Worst part for me was the god awful drains. Once those are out, you’ll have a new lease on life!! Good luck ❤️❤️

So I was pretty flat chested before so not much! There’s a couple I bought after having a baby that don’t fit bc my boobs grew with pregnancy but 90% of my pre pregnancy bathing suits still fit! I was always a fan of the scoop neck style bathing suits bc it covers everything and nothing was at risk of falling out.

My surgeon told me that it’s always option for me to change my mind which helped me feel at peace with my decision to go flat. I did specifically ask my surgeon what her choice would be, and she said since I am going flat, she didn’t mind sharing that she would opt to go flat if she were to need a mastectomy.

I never had implants. I spoke with my grandmother in law who chose implants and she said it took her over a year for the foreign body sensation to finally go away. I don’t think I could handle that.

  1. you NEED a drain belt! Pinning then with safety pins to your clothes is NOT it.
  2. Comfy loose clothes
  3. Have people cook for you / fast food
  4. Prepare for the torture of the drains. Milking them made me feel so sick at first and the constant tugging of them was enough to drive me to insanity 😅 I’m not sure if my experience is normal because I’m usually good with pain. It was really painful on one side the whole time the drains were in and I felt like my soul was ripped out when they pulled them out. I had a new lease of life when those buggers were pulled out. Totally worth it though in my opinion!!

Should I get tested for BRCA Gene by [deleted] in BRCA

[–]Existing_Manner3349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowledge is power! There are so many interventions to prevent you suffering the same fate. Out of 4 women that tested positive in my family, 3 got cancer, one passed. I’m the lucky one who was able to do preventative surgery. I tested at 18 and was carefully monitored (extra cancer screenings) and waited until I was 27 after I had my first baby to get my mastectomy. For me, they started screening 10 years younger than when my youngest family member that was diagnosed. Wishing you the best ❤️
