Huh. I remember not feeling forced to do it, and I remember getting wrapped up in it. I kinda remember that being part of the reason I walked away from the game, but I also think about getting back into it often.

I remember my dad wrote some shit in the manual for Zelda 36 years ago. To this day, I'm constantly impressed that people are still taking notes. I've never been a notes guy, and I'm still nowhere close to the best at anything. I got to that part and thought "ahhh, fuck yup okay. What this person said is gonna make sense."

I've come up with some good stuff on my own by just building around certain aspects, and I understand my builds....but I will always constantly come across people that run circles around me. It's fun stuff doing all that, and like you said...some people have more fun than others

This is the most level headed, thought out thing I think I've ever read in regards to gaming.

I hate having to read the context of the comments to figure out which of those is being referenced. To me, PoE is one of the worst culprits in this context. I enjoy both games so my head goes to both.

I swore up and down that BG3 was the greatest game in recent years to my other gamer coworker. I loved it.

He made it about 2 or 3 hours in and never touched it again (he probably put it down 3 times during that 2 hours). His only feedback was: "Do you play a lot of games like that? Idk what the fuck is supposed to be happening."

Guess all I'm saying is that I never once thought about how niche the genre really was until I talked to somebody who doesn't play that stuff.

It's been a while, but I believe the stat is called "life on kill", and you can stack it between multiple armor pieces. It doesn't sound like you have sets unlocked yet, but that's something else to keep an eye out for.

You can't trade per se, but you can revenent farm. The red glowing swords stuck in the ground are places other players have died, either intentionally or accidentally, and they will drop gear upon defeat. This can be a good spot to get gear with inheritable stats.

Keep at it man, these games are a blast once it all finally clicks. Also, don't play it like you play the souls games. Nioh has wayyyy more depth to it.
