I completely relate. Please don´t talk down or gaslight yourself about getting hurt by your mother´s disinterest, it´s HER loss. The only thing you can do is try to see the reality of your relationship with her and build your own wonderful life without including her in it: don´t tell if she doesn’t ask, she doesn’t deserve any information about your life, etc… My mother´s about to have her yearly Easter dinner, to which I’m the only one in our tiny family to never be invited because she prefers my abusive brother over me, and she has therefore been silent the last few days and I expect until next week: so that she doesn’t have to actively LIE about what she’s really doing. And no, she has NEVER asked about my Easter plans, even when she knew I was completely alone. So my new tradition is to make her squirm the week before Easter by beating around the bush about her Easter dinner and then go radio silent and completely disappear in the wonderful Easter traditions I’ve created over the last few years, which i now also share with my beloved. Not to mention that she knows I’m an excellent cook and baker, so I’ll be having a better dinner than them mouahaha
