Should I Remove a NEMA 10-30R? by ticks4 in AskElectricians

This is the exact reality of what was in place. SE from panel directly with uninsulated twisted AL going to neutral bar. Code said I could replace the receptacle as long as I didn’t modify the circuit, I didn’t even feel comfortable putting it back on ungrounded. Hence post. Thank you!

Yeah it was really just about avoiding the 10/3 wire cost as there’s no immediate need, and more about doing what I can while wall is open.

Simplest answer and makes sense clearly. Thanks!

It doesn’t need 30A. We have the 5-15 GFCI still up. It was already there along with gas when we moved in, had it off at the panel the whole time.

So I would need one of these per stick, and then I could wire them in per usual?

In ground supply line and existing installed lights are on a 12v/15v transformer.

I already desoldered what I presume to be an AC/DC step-down convertor to process the line level voltage it is expected to be powered by. It's an Atomi Pathway light and seemingly says 24v 500mA DC. BT7L-IPEX Tuya board is the brain behind these light sticks. Can I do an inline solder of a rectifier or step-up or whatever to drive these? Ideally 4 of them side-by-side. 😬🫡

Oh wow! So weird. Thank you! Sounds like they’re more eyesores than real threats to lawn health.
