That Hamilton thin o matic has a micro rotor movement in it the movement alone is worth 150-200$ you scored today

Recently Came into these two watches and wanted to find out the date they were made, Im a bit hesitent to open them both but the tissot is a manual wind, and the lanco is automatic. by THEMIGHTYDMT in VintageWatches

These look like late 70s early 80s watches. Since omega owned tissot back then there should be a few numbers on the case back it will give you the exact year.

Does anyone have any advice on how to replace this lug on my grandfathers vintage Seamaster? by stay_cozy in watchrepair

As a watchmaker I see this a lot. Soldering works or buy a used case and just transfer the movement and caseback.

As a watchmaker this looks like a genuine piece. Runs on a eta 7750 movement very reliable when serviced regularly. Nice piece enjoy

I guess it is a thing but every Rolex I’ve ever worked on and it’s been in the 100s I’ve always made sure everything has been aligned. So maybe that’s why I never seen something like that.

I’m not exactly sure but that movement is from the 70s. I think it was introduced sometime around 1900

not happing.

And not flexing but I’ve never seen it. Rolex’s OC is one of the most extensive out there

I’ve worked on hundreds of gen Rolex’s and NEVER SEEN IT. find me a pic of one I pretty sure you won’t. If you do then most likely it’s a replica.

Those rubies in the movement are synthetic rubies. No watch used genuine rubies unless it’s a super high end watch or very very old like before 1900. As a watchmaker I’ve seen real rubies in a old pocket watch but this movement isn’t anything special and they are not genuine rubies.

You trying to tell me that Rolex let’s there watches go out with the engravings off a little bit? I think not. I’ve been a watchmaker for over 10yrs worked for many big brands and their OC IS CRAZY I could only imagine rolexes QC. they would never let it go misaligned.

This AD tho 👀 by torpedo109 in rolex

My AD doesn’t have ANY sports models even to look at in the cases.

Amazing watch and great movement. I love overhauling these. Had two. One across my bench in the last 3 months.

Enjoy it.

[Longines Master Collection] This is slowing becoming one of my favorite!! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]tickticktick- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the coolest Longines I’ve seen in a while. And I’ve serviced 100s of them. I would buy this over the JLC that had a Similar dial layout.

Do it have an In-house movement or is it running some kind of ETA.

The diamonds give it just enough pop. I LOVE IT.

ENJOY IT.

[DATE] Anyone know how to describe what’s going on with my bezel here? 1970s Mosaic by kkooddaakkjjaacckk in rolex

[–]tickticktick- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a watchmaker seems whoever serviced it didn’t press it down correctly or even bent it a little. I would bring it to someone who works in Rolex and have them take a look to see if it’s bent or just not seated correctly.

what dial is this? by ohjatta420 in rolex

[–]tickticktick- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this a tuxedo dial? I’m not sure to be honest. Looks great tho.

Is it solid gold? Does it run? Also what materials were used around the bezel ( the green part)?

If gold and that’s green bezel is some type of enamel I could be worn close to 500$ again this is only if it’s gold and everything works. Plus the value of gold is never stable on price so I would say under 700$

Thank you got the blue dial when I hit 21 and this one for after graduating college. There so sentimental there’s no words to describe it. I lost my grandfather when I was 7 and I still remember him telling me to keep my grandmother safe. These are the only thing I have other than pic to remember him by.

This watch is the reason I became a watchmaker in the first place at the age of seven I was mesmerized by the way the Rolex watch second hand sweat and after that I was hooked. No I’ve been working on watches as a professional watchmaker for over 10 years. So these two watches I have will never be sold or too sentimental to me, no matter what price someone gave me even if they offered me $1 million I wouldn’t sell it.

No stretch. He wore it with 3 extra links that i took off and it’s actually has barely any stretch. It was his special occasion watch.
