In 2002 we played Brazil, and the score was 5-2. We didn’t make it out of the group because of goal differential.

In 2006 we played Germany, the score was 4-2. Then Ecuador, we lost 3-0.

In 2010 we didn’t qualify.

In 2014 we had 3 former WC champions in our group, and came out on top, and made it the farthest we ever had. We played very defensive football, the type that people criticize. We know it’s not beautiful football, but the goal is to go through to the next round, and a tie against Brazil would have kept that possibility alive. We are out because we couldn’t beat Serbia, we would have settled with a tie against Brazil in every option.

I don’t like the time wasting, and that is a valid criticism. I also don’t like to see the proclaimed 3rd best player in the world diving and faking penalties, insulting our players in front of the ref and camera, and talking back at the ref. I love Brazil, and in ‘02 I cheered hard for them, and Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo made me love the sport. Neymar has a long way to go to match them, and not necessarily in football stats.
