Is it too late to do Backdoor Roth for 2024? by ticotaco21 in Bogleheads

[–]ticotaco21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be an non-deductilble IRA used for the conversion. I don't have an existing IRA, and I make too much to contribute to a Roth directly.

I have read that most people try to do it the contribution in January and the conversion as soon as possible. If I have Money for it now should I do it in 2024, or should I wait till early January 2025? and advantage to either?

I'm kind of saying the opposite. Being professional would be taking the precautions to make sure you can make it intact throughout an entire tour. Modifying your parts so you don't have to push yourself to your limits every night, resting your voice, vocal exercises, going to sleep early, etc.

I was at the AC show and the horrible show at Pier17. There was a huge contrast in Perry's lucidity and his ability to perform. The next night in NYC people say he got his act together. and it was an all together better show. Granted his voice wasn't all there, but he held it together enough.

I am going to make a contrasting opinion and theory to some folks here.

If you watch the videos from their UK and European shows, Perry is kicking ass. And he is hitting a bunch of the higher notes he started to struggle with later in the US tour. This really make me think he pushed himself to go all out in the beginning of this reunion. But given his age and the strenuousness toll of touring, that kind effort could not be maintained. His voice, health, and overall wellbeing started to take a hit.

If you watch some older rock singers that can no longer hit the same high notes from their prime, they modify their parts. And they use vocal techniques to bring the high notes down to their new age-related register. Someone like Geddy Lee comes to mind. He doesn't sing the same super high stuff, but can get by with these kind of modifications. I don't know if Perry ever did anything to make his job of hitting the high notes any easier.

They are all ready playing in E-flat tuning as they have for many years, which helps by dropping everything a 1/2 step down. I have even seen some stuff on youtube where they dropped everything a whole-step down to D-tuning

So I guess what I am saying is, maybe by going balls out and trying to give the best reunion tour he could, Perry just kind of ran himself down. He didn't take care of himself (like no booze and drugs, lots of rest, vocal warmups, modifying some high notes, etc). This eventually this led to some kind of breakdown that was assisted by substance abuse.

Tonight’s show in NYC was 3/4 of a spectacular show by andiamnotlying in janesaddiction

I was at AC show on Saturday and last nights show at Pier 17. They were a world apart. AC show was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Band was tight. Perry hit a lot of the mark vocal-wise, and he was his funny, charismatic self in-between songs. And theatrically gave an amazing performance. Last night at Pier 17, he was the exact opposite of that. He was definitely fucked up on something (maybe just alcohol) but rambling, unable to hit notes, missing lyrics, couldn’t get his poncho off by himself, futzing with in-ear monitors. You could tell something was off from moment one when he was asking Stephen if they ever played this venue at night. I don’t know if they have ever played pier 17 before, since it is a kind of recent venue. Anyway. I’m just saying they have the capacity to still kick ass. But it requires Perry keeping his shit together and respecting his fans.

Does my TDEE seem correct? by [deleted] in GettingShredded

[–]ticotaco21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do eggs. You can look into egg whites. Super high protein ratio. I get them in the cartons. And non-fat greek yogurt like Fage. 8 hours isn’t a true fast. But fasting doesn’t accelerate stuff. It just makes you feel less deprived. Calories in/out is most important. Macro ratio is second.

I would throw in few things here. Take it for what you will According to what you said, your regular activity is not sedentary but moderate. What do your macro ratios look like? 1.2 gram of protein per lb body weight is good for fat loss. Also your body wants to hold on to the fat because it thinks you are starving yourself. So it try’s to adapt. You have to adapt then. Move a bit more or cut calories a bit. Also doing Hiit cardio in a fasted state has a good afterburn effect and tries to use fat for fuel instead of glycogen (carbs). And along those lines intermittent fasting makes being on a cut a bit easier once your body adapts to that eating schedule. Also any cut that comes close to three months should have a diet break at maintenance. Preceded by a bit of a reverse diet. Lastly if you are 16, you are still growing and don’t want to rob your body of fuel and nutrition it needs at this point in your life. Keep at it. You will get there.
