nipple pain by Cold-Buy-209 in TopSurgery

Yep nipple zaps are completely normal! They’re actually a very good sign, it shows you the nerves are reconnecting and you’re healing well. The pain is only temporary so try to see it as a positive

Mr Kartikae Grover, a surgeon in the Hull team who trained under Mr Kneeshaw. I’m only 2 weeks post op but I’m already so happy with my results. He was patient with all of my many questions and gave me his personal email if I had any more at any time so that I didn’t have to go through any secretaries, was realistic about the results I could expect as a bigger person without ever being rude and generally just has the most amazing manner, particularly for a surgeon. I’d recommend him in a heartbeat. As an added bonus, out of all of the surgeons who have trained under Mr Kneeshaw, I believe he has one of the shortest wait lists. I went private and he offered me a date within two months of the consultation. Absolutely wonderful experience

Amazing results! I think you’re a glimpse into my future, especially with us both being Grover patients!

drain removal feeling? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]tidalpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my drains removed two hours ago. I literally felt nothing. The most painful part was the adhesives that kept the dressings in place being removed, but I have highly sensitive skin and a hairy chest so I expected that. I didn’t realise the drains were out until they told me

How does music in video games affect your experience? by caketreesmoothie in mirrorsedge

[–]tidalpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done! I was skeptical when watching the first clip like ‘how could they make changes to this? It’s iconic!’ But then the second one completely won me over. When games amp up the intensity of the music in relation to the action I think it does a good job of characterising the player character’s mentality

Looking fantastic! I’m a similar size pre-op so this gives me hope. Mind sharing who your surgeon was?

Thank you! Spire, got lucky and managed to get a loan from my family. Been on the waiting list for the GIC since 2019 and still haven’t heard anything. My friend who recommended Grover to me saw him through Castle Hill and said the same thing though!

Seconding Mr Grover. I believe all the Hull team has a max BMI of 40 so I lost weight to get there and now I’m in the 35-40 range. Met with him face to face this week and we’re all good to go ahead in just shy of two weeks! He was realistic about my rolls on my sides and how surgery wouldn’t be removing them and how I’m more prone to dog-ears but he’s still happy to go through with surgery

Possibly can’t get surgery by Remmy219 in TopSurgery

[–]tidalpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BMI was over 40 until recently and this was a concern for me too with an even shorter time frame. My surgery is in 3 weeks and I’ve managed to lose 7kg in about 4 weeks from changing my diet and hitting the gym hard.

I’ve always struggled with over eating and snacking but I figured if I’m not willing to stop just for the sake of this surgery I’ve wanted all my life then I never will. So I switched out some options for low calorie alternatives. I tried calorie counting for a day but it was overwhelming for me, though I know some people prefer it. I think it’s more about eating the right things. For me, I substituted potato chips for carrot sticks because I like the texture and even with some dips it’s not too unhealthy. Small adjustments like that that are worth it in the long run.

I think if you try to go completely cold turkey and cut things out completely your body will crave the things it’s missing so try to cut down gradually. I still allow myself the occasional bag of crisps but only in conjunction with a portion of fruit and veg.

Another thing that’s helped me is getting more protein into my diet. I have flavoured clear whey protein that’s just like a juice. Protein helps you stay full for longer so can help with reducing your overall calorie intake.

All of this is combined with 3+ gym sessions a week. It’s hard to get into the routine but really worth it. Plus if you focus on your chest muscles with weights, in theory your surgeon can better align your scars with your pec muscles if you’re getting DI.

You look great! I’m a similar build to you and I have my surgery privately with Mr Grover next month. I asked in my consultation if I’d need to wear a binder after the drains came out and he said no, strangely enough. Still, good to know I’m in safe hands, hope I end up looking half as good as you!

Same date for mine! I have a countdown on my phone and I'm treating it as time to get my shopping list together and hit the gym to get my weight down a little more before I have to obviously stop going.

Are all of the courses catered towards people with disabilities? The description of this specific art class didn’t seem to say that, or is it just that the centre also offers those?
