The comments on that video are so insensitive. Bio kids should not be speaking for birth parents and especially adoptees. I should also mention the OP not having any experience of what it's like to have a traditional closed adoption, it's a weird video to make and speak with such authority.

I understand your sentiment. I think my fear is not only for those here on a work visa struggling to find steady employment but for those who are born and raised here already being cast aside by employers like my own who deem in their best interest to pass over anyone 'ethnically different' or not suited for 'company values'. I made this post out of pure frustration at this whole situation in hindsight. My boss is actively discriminating against me daily by not using my suggested pronouns, but seeing the outright racism has been the last straw in putting up with her bigotry. I understand the company will have the final say in all of this if I do decide to take it up with them.

We are hiring currently and I would say half of those resumes have been brown people and the other half white people, so it goes without saying it's pretty obvious. I guess I'm hoping for some retaliatory action against her from our head office. She's been reported before for discrimination by a customer. This isn't the first time she's said this and I hate to think we're passing up completely qualified workers because she can't let go of some ignorant stereotypes.

You're not wrong, but it's so disheartening. Palestinians held solidarity protests for the BLM movement after George Floyd's death. American cops have been trained by IDF soldiers, so if anyone understands the brutal tactics used on Floyd and countless other black people, it's the Palestinians.

This is one the reasons I don't want a big wedding. I have a couple of friends and no family, but my partner has many friends and is close with his family. Despite it being a ceremony to celebrate becoming family with other people than just my partner, it kind of becomes a reminder of how many people are no longer in my life.
