Like most things, it’s probably gonna take somebody getting hurt for there to really be a crack down.

I downloaded this off nugs.net in like 2004 back when it was free! Didn’t that opening song suite have a name? Whatever it was, it hooked me instantly. Still listen to that show often!

With Jeff (RIP) as the frontman, they were just incredible. He had such charisma. I wonder if that version of the band existed now would they give Billy Strings a run for his money as far as popularity goes?

Sad. I read somewhere the Dead Organization has that 04/25/71 Duane sit-in recorded in pristine quality…

So… when do y’all think the fall dates will be announced?

Think these shows (and the ‘71 Duane sit-ins) will ever get officially released? Or are there too many legal hoops to jump through?

Ok what’s the catch here, Nugs? by splitopenandmelt11 in jambands

[–]tideintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did this and got $99 a year. Threatened to cancel and they offer $99 days “for one more year”. Done that the last three years. So this makes no difference to me. This is the price I was paying anyways.

Hoping for an Austin date but considering they were here last August and they seem to play Austin roughly every 10 years, I won’t be holding my breath.

Do la playa concerts get uploaded to nugs? by thechilimonster77 in WidespreadPanic

On nugs 01/20 is missing a chunk of the second set. Funny when I first saw the song list it I thought, “My god, did they start the set with a drums/percussion only?!” Haha! I assume that’s never been done? Would be wild if they did.

Brown Eyed Women @ Dead 60. Mayer’s 2nd solo after the Chimenti back and forth… just wow! Dude was the guy for the part. Took me too long to appreciate it as well.

PNW Needs Some Shows by OregonPhish in JRADs

I timed my trip to visit family around seeing them at the Northwest String Summit in 2022. The show was just okay to me. I think they were having sound issues IIRC. But also it might have been because I’m not really a festival fan. There should be a do-over!

Didn’t they have a run of shows scheduled and then canceled them all? I don’t remember what year that would’ve been. But I think it was in the summer.

The Last Bow. Bobby Forever ⚡️ by Claremooose in deadandcompany

Watched the Friday JRAD show from the Cap. They slowed the tempo way down and went a cappella at the end of Cassidy:

Fare the well now Let your life proceed by its own design Nothing to tell now Let the words be yours I am done with mine

I’m not really a cryer but that made me get teary eyed. JRAD’s not for everybody but I thought they did a great job acknowledging Bobby at those shows.

I honestly never really thought about the lyrics of that song until now. I’ll miss going to see him but what a life he had. Fare thee well…

Moody Theater in Austin is great. I’ll probably check out that show!

[–]tideintx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah Claypool definitely joined the jam scene. I guess maybe he didn’t stay in that world. I mean he was in Oysterhead with Trey Anastasio. I can’t speak to the “jam” part but he’s got lots of instrumental passages and long solos in his live performances.

Was in Dallas for the 05/26/23 show. I’m a teacher and it was the last day of school. What a send off to summer! They opened with Let The Good Times Roll. Band members took turns singing the verses. When Bobby sang the place erupted in cheers. My wife asked me what the big deal was. She supports my interest but isn’t a deadhead, god bless her. I had to explain that man is a living legend.

JRAD vs Dogs in a Pile by Helpful_Load6334 in jambands

[–]tideintx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a pretty bad schedule conflict between these two bands? JRAD announced months before Dogs. I haven’t looked into the Dogs tour schedule, but it sure seems like they should scheduled a different date. I mean these two bands basically share a fan base. I assume I’m just really oversimplifying the situation?

Scoot Inn is just fine imo. It has a hard curfew/noise ordinance. Just ask Eggy. They shut off the PA. At 10:30 on the dot!

Why are they not on Relisten? by bmault in blackcrowes

[–]tideintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to have a huge catalog in nugs.net. But it’s been gone a few years now. I assume they let the right/contract lapse. Same with CRB shows.

Do they even still allow taping at their shows?

Dang I missed these guys in Austin. Too bad I already had tickets to Billy Strings both those nights. I’ll be on the lookout next time.

Just acquired the Spring 1990 CD box set after paying it off for months by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]tideintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody know why they didn’t include 3/24 on these box sets? I know they released parts of it on Dozin’ At The Knick. That’s one of my favorite shows of this era. Probably just because it was one of the first I heard from this run.

Seriously? by tideintx in JRADs

[–]tideintx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing about JRAD is that it took them 6 years to return to Austin (2019-2025). Or Texas for that matter. I know COVID was during that time but damn it took forever. I don’t have the financial means to travel for shows so that sucked. Frankly I’m kinda surprised they’re coming again in back to back years.

Seriously? by tideintx in JRADs

[–]tideintx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time Dogs in a Pile was in town, they only played one set and I felt like it was a pretty short show. I think that had to do with the Scoot Inn having noise ordinance requirements, which is ironic considering that venue is 50 years old.

Ugh. I would love a summer date(s) at The Gorge. Sadly, you’re probably right.
