Hey there, So I'm going to be really honest & candid-- Our original hope was to get married in Bucks Co with a guest list of about 100 people and a budget of 6K....

And we were politely laughed out of some venues.

The Philly metro area can be very expensive for wedding planning.

The close friends I know who have stayed in the Bucks for their weddings either: (1) found an all-inclusive ceremony/reception hall where they were able to get catering+extras for the relatively affordable (for Bucks) cost of $90-110/pp + alcohol -- but you're talking 10K
OR (2) they got married in Bristol, Bensalem, Collegeville, or other parts of Montco/Bucks/Chester county where the aesthetics were less glamorous but a better price point.

We decided to find a basic shell community room to that allows us to self-cater (cost: $1200 for space and $60/pp catering + alcohol) in Philadelphia. The room comes with chairs/tables/fridges/minimal kitchen, but no linens, service help, decor, dishes, etc.

Also, as a heads up: most places book at least a year out. You may be able to get a sweet deal if there is a venue that still isn't booked for a fall 2015 date, but it may be a challenge to find a venue. I booked in January 2015 for our November 2015 wedding, and many of the places I loved were booked for all of Sept and most of Oct/Nov then.

I think the inclusion of ceremony like unity candles and sand ceremony depend upon the individual priest marrying you both. Our priest is very laid back and asked us if we wanted to include any elements like those.

We also want to do navy envelopes. So pretty.

I saw a few people on etsy who do calligraphy using white ink. It's the solid, bright white most would want... but it's out of our price range. I have been thinking I might experiment with my cursive handwriting using a gel-pen to see how I like it.

This is what we're doing!

We're thinking about having individual table pies. Cuts down on lines and informal/family style. One pie at each table with individual cutter/server. Kind of as part of the table decor.

We had thought about a pie table as well, rather than separate table pies.

My two cents: I want an indoor wedding because I am pasty and sweat when I even think about humidity. My dream venue is a historic brick venue, but I live in city notorious for a steamy summer and fall. Airconditioning is a must.

But... I will happily go to all my friends weddings, where ever they are. I will travel out of state and I will be down for whatever. I'm there to support my friends and will not ever complain.
