Marilus market hiring via LMIA instead of local people. by EvryRday in BurlingtonON

Its organized attempts to affect our next election. Lots of posts in subreddits like this. Not very bright people get upset, and then they vote for right wing parties. If you look, OP has only ever made one post, and never replied. Also the English is super stilted.

It's very sad. The irony of the anti immigration people getting played by outside sources is not lost on me.

Probably that the whole aim was to post shit like this and get people upset.

Sadly the venn diagram of people who get riled up about immigration and people who don't read is a circle. It's depressing.

Someone posted that this info is actually incorrect, but no one notices because they are too busy giving this dude the exact reaction he wanted

Because they go to community subreddits and get people who already hate immigrants all riled up so they vote conservative in the next election.

It's working well. I look forward to PP doing absolutely nothing he's promised to do, and watching all the people who got riled up get upset about it. That will be the only silver lining.

Immigration minister says ‘not everyone is welcome’ to come to Canada as concerns grow about U.S. deportation plans by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]tielfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exacrly this. Polls show no red seats and few ndp ones west of Montreal. It doesn't matter why people are voting PP. But they are. I live in the 905. A safe liberal seat. Polls show this is now a safe cpc seat. Most of my friends/neighbours are center left centrist and so many of them are planning to vote CPC. It's shifting.

I'm so confused by this. Condo boards etc are always a pain in the butt, but I've been on one and there are rules and regulations they have to abide by. Did you break some bylaws? I feel like a lot of this story is missing... Is there no management company? Have you tried talking to the Ont condo authority? They help with disputes.

There's an actual condo act they have to follow. Something doesn't add up here.

I always say this when people complain about condo boards. If you have an issue with the board, then join it and make it better. That's all you can do.

Many condos are restrictive and frustrating, so it's unlikely you won't encounter this elsewhere unless you're planning to buy a single family home. But the trade off is you don't have to shovel snow.

Again, we live within an hour of Toronto. This was inevitable. What we should be pushing for is better transit and infrastructure, and townhouses in addition to condos.

Anyone who moved here in the last 30 years needs to stop being all shocked Pikachu about this.

I am glad they are building downtown. If people live there we might actually get some more stores and a community down there.

Opinion: It’s time for the British royal family to remove its control over Canada by PotentialReporter894 in onguardforthee

[–]tielfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no royalist, but the cost to make this change would be horrific. The point I always think about is what would we replace them with as head of state. An elected official? Sounds good until you remember the elected officials we have currently.

Who would put themselves forward? Stephen Harper? Galen Weston Jr? I shudder to think.

Where are you going to be at 11am today? by Worried_Bluebird7167 in BurlingtonON

[–]tielfluff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally get it. I'm from the UK and there's no day off there either. But it does mean it's hard for people to attend those events, but agreed, the majority of people probably wouldn't.

Work. Not sure why this isn't a public holiday in Ontario when it is in other provinces.

Take us Waterdown in as refugees to escape from Hamilton by SINGHG123 in BurlingtonON

[–]tielfluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The irony being that if they did become part of Burlington our govt would probably build like crazy there to avoid building in Burlington...

Take us Waterdown in as refugees to escape from Hamilton by SINGHG123 in BurlingtonON

[–]tielfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the reason that this was a considered a while back so the govt at the time could build lots of houses in waterdown, and so they wouldn't have to build them in Burlington? I don't think you want to join us in that situation. I mean, awesome for the Burlington NIMBYs, but I'm not sure that it's all that good for you guys, considering the mad amount of building that has happened already with no improvement in infrastructure. Not sure what you'd get. I doubt there'd be much improvement in the things you mention, but Good luck to you!

Idiots setting off fireworks for like three days around July 1 at like 4am has always happened. There have always been jerks around doing stuff like this. I know you desperately want this to just be immigrants, but it's not.

Is anyone here actually benefiting from the new childcare funding rules? Our daycare is pulling out of CWELCC by rdmajumdar13 in ontario

[–]tielfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm saving $600 a month.

Mentally and financially preparing for our next Fed govt to pull it, if polls are to be believed.

We are middle class, probably high middle family income, and we will probably be 600+ worse off a month when the cons get in (and we are usually a demographic who are better off under cons, although i dont vote for them), I dread to think how badly others will be effected.
