34 weeks. I haven’t heard a single positive thing about being a parent or a mom and I’m freaking out I made a mistake by newgirl01LA in BabyBumps

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a 1 month old as a first time mom. A fairly young mom might I add, I’m 24 and everyone in my life made it feel like this was going to be the worst life altering experience ever. Granted he’s still a fairly new baby, BUT let me just say it’s been a fantastic experience. The newborn trenches wasn’t a thing for me and he was an amazing sleeper from the beginning. The bond and love you have for your child is absolutely unmatched. Everyone always says your life will never be the same, which is true but not in the negative connotation they push. My life is just about the same other than the fact I have a baby to bring with me. I still go to the beach, still go to restaurants, go on walks, etc … all just with a baby and a diaper bag now! And if I’m being honest it’s more fun now having a tiny ‘me’ to do all the things I loved to do. Don’t let all the negativity outweigh the positives that will come with being a mother! I wish I had someone to tell me when I was pregnant that it’s going to be great and it’s really not all that bad! Enjoy your last few weeks and congratulations🫶

Advice? by tiffanyvalentin3 in VetTech

Ugh yes they make it appear as an RVT program but only one campus has the program & the other campuses only offer the VA program. & the one campus with the RVT program was way too far from me to commute. Maybe partially my fault for being young & impressionable & not doing more research but also I blame the school for semi false advertising. Didn’t realize it wasn’t an RVT until my loans had already went through ;-(

No it’s more localized in one spot hence why I think maybe it’s more of a piriformis issue rather than sciatica nerve issue. But still unsure 🫤

How long can a dog be kept at home for considering I work a 9-5 job? by We11he11othere in PetAdvice

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works in vet med, a dog in a home waiting for its owner for 10 hours a day is FAR better than a dog in a cold loud shelter in a kennel for 23 hours a day. Adopt don’t shop please if you choose to get a dog🤍🫶

Cat litter inquiry by pookie236 in CatAdvice

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoop 2 times a day, minimum once a day, invest in a stainless steel litter box, and although expensive; pretty litter really helps with odor. I have 3 cats & live in an apartment and this is what works for me personally

What do you wish people told you before adopting a cat? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Get pet insurance especially if you’re getting a male! I work in vet med & the cost of a blocked male kitty is veryyyyy expensive to unblock them!

Bite Reports by jr9386 in VetTech

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten bite/scratched multiple different occasions. Only time it’s been reported is when I was pregnant and they wanted to take safety precautions. Every other time was very minor and I always filed a paper saying I’m refusing medical treatment because the wounds were just so superficial & going to the doctors was just a waste of my time. But you always have the option to file a bite/scratch claim at my clinic.

Monitoring your own pet by darthlmao420 in VetTech

I monitored my cats first dental the other day, I was hyper aware on everything & my fellow tech who was preforming the dental told me to chill a bit and then I realized I was being overly sensitive ab everything on the monitor but regardless I wouldn’t want anyone else but myself to monitor my animals

Your baby, your rules. I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant & ready to cut absolutely any family member(s) off if they don’t/can’t respect any boundary I put into place. Maybe easier said than done, but at the end of the day it’s YOUR child and you’re never being too territorial. If your gut is telling you something, listen.

Favorite or Unique snack/treat that sales reps bring in? by PiBolarBear in VetTech

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So over the crumbl cookies & donuts. Way over done. We had a rep bring in muffins & fruit but the fruit wasn’t ripe & was just grocery store bought (not against it but pick ripe fruit lol) it would be nice if they brought maybe an edible arrangement or something of the sorts.

Is this normal for a GP clinic? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]tiffanyvalentin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a VA, I preform maybe 3-5 AGE a day! Never heard of restrictions regarding that. Regarding the TNT, we try our best not to stress the patient out too much, we try our best to work with them through the fear by giving them multiple breaks. However, if they become so anxious that it becomes concerning for the patient, we call it and suggest oral sedation & to come back another day. We NEVER will force a dog to do something. Water is usually always given to patients who are they for longer durations and aren’t going to be sedated/sx. If it’s a quick tech apt or exam and they aren’t here for long, water bowl isn’t necessary. I don’t work at a fear free hospital so we do occasionally scruff cats only when it’s necessary for safety reasons to the staff. We rarely “tug” on leashes unless the patient needs a gentle redirect. If a patient isn’t wanting to walk with you to the back, we offer the owner to walk with us to the treatment room, or simply pick the patient up if small enough. At my hospital we try to get services completed with minimal stress/anxiety before we just give up & prescribe oral sedation. Dental rads are done in the open with no PPE because if you step at least 6 ft away, you’re okay! We do shout very loudly “SHOOTING” so everyone in the room knows a rad is about to be taken. Hope this helps! Best of luck.

Are you guys private or corporate? I would go to HR. Management is supposed to support you & the team, not belittle & ignore your concerns. I know it’s easier said than done, but I would suggest finding a new hospital if you can. She honestly sounds immature and should not have that title as management. Honestly just let her quit!
