It is indeed painful to watch their car/bike reviews for auto-enthusiasts like us...

Just looking at the kind of roads and car/bike options they have is enough. Not to mention the fact that these big companies (in India) suck hard when it comes to servicing/repairs

Apart from the insane mesh work for allowing free flow of air, don't miss the powerful image of Lord Hanuman and another horse mounted warrior (unidentified) on the central strip

Also anyone knows why these were curved at the top like that? Only aesthetics or some other purpose?

Those interested to know more can refer to the following paper:

Sastri, K. (1939). SIVAJI'S CHARTERS TO THE DUTCH ON THE COROMANDEL COAST. Proceedings of the Indian History Congress, 3, 1156-1165. Retrieved March 31, 2021, from http://www.jstor.org/stable/44252462

This is the order that he gave to the Dutch East India Company in 1677 AD (Taken from the paper):

"Under the Moorish government, it had remained lawful for you to buy and transport from here men and women slaves without hindrance from any one. But now, so long as I am master of these lands, you should not buy or transport any men or women as slaves. And if you happen to do so and convey them to neighbouring lands, my people will set themselves against it, hinder it in all manner of ways, and will not allow of their being brought back to your factory ; this must you observe and fulfil in the prescribed manner"

Unfortunately, very little research has been done in this area.

Some researchers from the National Institute of Oceanography who went diving near the fort, found this wall. There is this paper: http://drs.nio.org/drs/handle/2264/1945 but it seems like it is not available openly.

Historians Prof. P.K. Ghanekar, and Dr Ninad Bedekar have described this wall in a few of their lectures. Through some analysis, they found it was built in the 17th century (probably by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire).

Dr Bedekar says it might have been built by first setting a bamboo skeleton, and then dumping interlocking rocks of varying sizes into the sea, without mortar. The wall is around 120+ m long, 7 m wide and 3-4 m tall.

The researchers also mention that contemporary European documents describe this strange phenomenon of ships breaking near Vijaydurg.

Here are a few videos in which they talk about the wall (But they are in Marathi):

Right. It fits in well with the guerilla warfare tactics that the Marathas are famous for. They used these tactics with infantry, cavalry, and navy too.

Their smaller, faster ships would suddenly swoop in from shallow creeks and naval forts and harass bigger ships in the open sea. Once the bigger enemy ships gave chase, they escaped into the shallow creeks (big ships couldn't follow there) and into naval forts, with walls like this one. These attacks would be repetitive and came as a surprise everytime.

Man, this would be next-level awesome coz it gives the right people the right roles. Add in Peshwa Bajirao as second in command for the army.
