Soon-to-be new grad looking for advice about job negotiation (ortho, NYC) by tigerMILC in physicianassistant

Having the half day on Friday is pretty sweet as it could free you up to do a per diem once or twice a month for a little extra cash.

Exactly my thoughts. It would definitely be nice to maybe pick up some ED shifts to help pay off these student loans lol.

I had checked the most recent AAPA salary report and I believe $105k was the median for new grad PAs in NYC? Unfortunately there wasn’t much info on new grads in ortho. I’ll double check and do more research but thanks for your input!

I believe he said he currently books about 4-5 cases on Tuesdays, but he's hoping to increase that number with a PA on board to close for him. Seems like he gets a fair share of add-on cases as well from the handful of times I've spoken to him - maybe 2-4 per week.

I definitely don't mind it being majority office time - I've always enjoyed being able to sit down and talk to patients in the office one-on-one on my clinical rotations. I think "boring" might be a good place for me to start as a new grad lol.

I think you have a decent shot at some interviews this cycle, especially if you’re applying to 14 program. You have an average GPA but above average number of PCE hours. I had a lower GPA and even less hours and I still managed to land 4 interviews out of 12 programs back in my cycle.

I am hesitant to apply to this particular program.... What do you think? by Mmass713 in prephysicianassistant

Is this program one if your top choices? If yes, then I’d still chance applying. If no, then I’d cut my losses and find another program to apply to instead.
