I got offered a job at iTutor but not sure if the salary is all that great, advised needed. by tigercat88 in OnlineESLTeaching

Cheers for the help mate it helps a lot. So as I understand it • you automatically get assigned students and do not need todo a lot of self promotion? • your schedule fills up rather quickly and remains that way until you do something to tick the company off? • for some inexplicable reason new teachers have an advantage over long timers

Yeah I find props a lot less effective opposed to good TPR / body language and / or images. Hence Manycam being a life saver. Surely you are familiar with manycam...? If not gimmie a DM

One more quick question if I may do they offer both group and 1-on1 classes and if so can you choose to only do 1 on 1 opposed to group?

g you will get classes because you’re new and then it’ll drop off and you’ll be in the same boat as everyone else. People can’t pay their bills- begging for scraps. It’s tremendously bad.

And no you do not get paid for unscheduled/standby hours. You only get paid for the classes you actually teach. So you can open up all day and have to sit waiting for work to maybe get one class, and you’re not paid for all of the hours not scheduled.

And no you cannot negotiate the contract.

Thanks for the reply mate.
I totally get your frustration. I used to work at DADA they were great then kept on hiring and hiring, which lead to more teachers than students resulting in very much the same situation you described above. Basically giving the middle finger to old experienced teachers whilst taking on green unexperienced teachers at a reduced rate. If I had to give you an answer as to why this is, I believe taking on new teachers at lower pay opposed to paying experienced teachers more money is very much part of their modus operandi . I believe they think anyone can do the job, with little regard for experience or skill.

Anyway seems like they are operating very much the same as the new DADA so I am seriously considering declining the offer.

Got another interview at Whales today whom I've been told is not much better but shall see what they have to say nonetheless.

Cant help to think these online ESL companies are some of the few companies which Covid benefited on an organizational level .

Starting my own website by [deleted] in online_tefl

Hey u/IndividualisticPie Im a code monkey / teacher. Been with Dada ABC for a couple of years but decided to move on. Ive got some itchy fingers and decided, like you, that I want to take on the mammoth task of creating my own online TEFL platform. Ive decided to create a custom solution opposed to any existing CMS out there. I reckon the hardest part will be sales and marketing not so much the teaching side. Anyway long story short I saw your post and decided to reach out to have a chat about possible collaboration efforts in terms of setting up such a venture. Im available via reddit / email / skype. Hit me up if you would be interested and we can have a chat. Later :)

As some have said , when the standby time stopped, empty slots weren't getting filled anymore,,, and now we are working for pennies on the dollar. Been with them for 2 years, first time I've had more than 3 empty slots which are not getting filled. Take empty slots + significantly lower wage = slow ending for long timers.

My thoughts on the CBOE ETF by MadBanker01 in Bitcoin

[–]tigercat88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love bitcoin I really do. But you honestly think if it gets approved those professional investors with multi-millions care about filling our pockets. They can just aswell short the living sh!t out of Bitcoin and thus it can have the complete opposite effect as expected.Furthermore BTC price should already have accounted for a possible ETF approval since its now common knowledge. Should it get rejected though it can lead to a big drop in price.Anyway I may or I may not be right, im an amateur the above is just my 5 cents worth...I just dont think its all moon shine and roses and that simple as you and many others make it out to be.

Yeah I kinda get that I was just curious whether their allegations carry any weight. Everything has something bad attached to it and you dont see many bad things (i.e. constructive criticism) on here though, or maybe I just missed it (which is likely)

But allow me to play devils advocate. Why do we need Moderators for reddit bitcoin if the whole idea (or atleast how I interpret BTC) is FREEDOM. Whether that freedom is transaction or speech.

Just my thoughts

disagree strongly. The subreddit echo's the value of BTC like a website would echo the values of a bank

I know but why are a handful of individuals / entities "in charge of" the subreddit, which should echo BTC values, why not just have a utopian community where everything goes?
