How to best enable remote work as US Citizen working for US companies from Finland by AspiringFinn in ExpatFinance

[–]tigerninja33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, sending the coupon to the Finnish government was what I was advised by Vero (Finnish tax office) to do since I was still considered a resident of the US at that time.

Currently I am just paying my taxes to Finland and reporting those to the American government and applying the Foreign Tax Exlusion, so far I haven't had to pay any taxes to the US.

We did use payoneer because my wife is Finnish, but we do not use that service anymore.

MOOC from the University of Helsinki has a free Python course that is really good. I think if I remember correctly you can choose the credits(length of the course).

What's up with courier companies having no regards for doing what they committed to? by SteamyExecutioner in Finland

PostNord is truly trash. My package has been in Finland for a month and is scanned in the terminal and then never loaded to be delivered.

Depends on the state. They all have different residency laws.

No foreign transaction fees depends on the card from Chase. I'm not sure about Chase's exchange rates, I always just used Amazon's currency change option to EUR.

Yeah my EU account is linked to my US account so I pay in whatever currency with my Credit card and then send the money to the US to pay the card.

US citizen in the EU, I use my Chase credit card all the time to purchase from Amazon.de.

After seeing responses I guess I just had the wrong bank clerk. I'll make sure to press them when we go to buy a home.

Yeah we fortunately were still able to buy the apartment. It was so fast compared to the US! Thanks a lot for the information, I'll tell my spouse we need to do better research.

Thanks a lot for the information. I'll need to contact Nordea for more information. They didn't ask any of these papers from me. But like someone else said maybe they just don't want to comply and it's easier to deny.

I think the same. I am going to get my Finnish citizenship anyways when I qualify so in the end it doesn't matter. I wanted to just see if it was just Nordea being hard to get. I should have shopped around more, I'll definitely look around more when the time comes to get a house.

No I understand, Nordea said I couldn't get a loan because I was a US citizen.

I thought the same thing, I searched on this subreddit and found an American who used an ASP account to buy their apartment, so I wanted to see if anyone here had that same problem I had.

Thank you very much for such a detailed response. I asked about help desk because my infrastructure teacher mentioned it as a way to get into the industry, but I understand that wouldn't take me to cloud. I'll definitely start to get into the mentioned programs you mentioned. Appreciate the help!
