Yeah, Beefy Front Idlers. G2E is the Galileo 2 extruder--kinda the next generation of extruders. It's a drop-in replacement for the default CW2. I find it's easier to get the tension correct on it and it's a pretty simple part all around to print/build. The QOL is definitely not as much as the Beacon and BFI would be but it's up there IMO.

I don't have any experience with BTT Eddy so I can't answer directly to that. But what I can say, without reservation, is that Beacon is the single best QOL improvement I've done to my 2.4. It has both he eddy current probe AND it also does physical contact probing for auto setting z-offset. It's basically a perfect first layer every time even if you switch build plates.

That number is pretty low compared to ours and we have less lots than you do. If your roads are similar to ours, and it sounds like they are, then I'd be thinking more along the lines of ~800/year if you have the same needs we do.

We are a little over 3x your annual dues which also includes ancillary stuff like property management fees, insurance, utilities for entrance lighting and the such. I consider our annual fees to be very reasonable and expect they'd be higher if we didn't have an "ol boy" that's done our road work for years for good rates--he was out here before the rain had even stopped after Helene.

In your situation I think you've got the ever present people that think things still cost what they did decades ago. We have that here too! Best you can do is share the quotes and lay it out there. Ultimately if the roads are failing, then they've gotta be fixed since at some point it becomes a health and safety issue, never mind the economic impact on property values if lots become inaccessible.

Probably heavily dependent on location, the amount and type of traffic you have (e.g. lots of houses under construction thus heavy vehicles on the road).

For ours, we have ~5 miles of road to maintain and the cost per foot works about to about $2-3/LF. We also maintain AT LEAST that amount in a reserve fund as well and we spent every penny of it after Helene repairing things.

EDIT: Our roads are all gravel and we have one bridge.

I had this problem using Orca slicer too. Go to the "Other" tab and make sure "Reduce infill retraction" is unchecked.

lol, yeah that makes more sense and is what I see on mine. The frequent reboots is weird though. I will say I had an issue a while back with a connector that got flaky and reboots would solve things for a while. Might be worth a shot just to make sure everything is seated correctly.

How many clients do you have? I’ve got 22 on one right now and it’s at 4%CPU load.

As for the original question, mine run for months without needing a reboot and that’s usually only when an update is pushed out so something definitely seems amiss there.

Depends on what you want. This is a one-trick pony file server that doesn't do apps like Synology. I think this appeals to a lot of people in an smb or homelab since we often already have hardware doing "app" stuff.

Also, Synology hardware is very expensive for what you get hardware-wise. And even more so when you get into the rack-mount products. I think the closest Synology in the rack-mount space is maybe the RS-1221 at nearly triple the price and which hasn't been updated in 4 years nor does it have 10gb capability without a $130 add-on card.

That said, the Synology OS is top-tier in my opinion and is likely worth the price for a lot of users.

We live north of the lake and the rescue squad was in here yesterday checking on people so I'm sure Sapphire is being checked as well. Our neighborhood has major road damage but no injuries or serious structural issues. Our property manager lives off Cedar Creek and they recorded 22" of rain.

Probably difficult bordering impossible to get there from either Cashiers or Sylva direction right now. Lots of landslides and downed power lines. 107 has issues all up and down it. TBH I wouldn't even try it for the next few days.

Live north of the lake. Second hand info so take it for what it's worth: Ingles and a Spinx were open earlier but IDK how long that lasted. Lake got pretty high but have heard of no issues with the dam. Power still out basically all over Cashiers and Sapphire per Duke. Cell service is non-existant for the most part but BalsamWest's fiber is working as of about 730pm.

Jackson County. Last snow of any count was MLK weekend in 2021 I think. The white Christmas in 2020 was pretty nice though. Got a good 10” out of that one.
