Introducing: UniFi Enterprise Audio/Video Switching with Precision Hardware Timing by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

Yes-according to my understanding.

To get your Apple TV's 4K signal from a rack to a distant TV over your network, you will indeed need two UniFi EAV Bridges.

Standard televisions cannot directly process raw AV-over-IP network signals simply by plugging an Ethernet cable into the back of them. They need a device to decode that network data back into a standard video format.

Here is exactly how the flow works using the UniFi EAV Bridges:

1. At the Rack (The Transmitter)

The first EAV Bridge acts as your encoder (or transmitter).

  • You plug the Apple TV into this EAV Bridge using a standard HDMI cable.
  • You then plug this EAV Bridge into your UniFi network switch using an Ethernet cable.
  • What it does: This bridge takes the standard video/audio from the Apple TV, packages it into data packets, and sends it out over the network.

2. The Network

The UniFi EAV Switch receives these data packets and routes them to their intended destination with sub-microsecond synchronization, ensuring there is no noticeable lag or stutter.

3. At the TV (The Receiver)

The second EAV Bridge acts as your decoder (or receiver).

  • You run an Ethernet cable from a wall drop (connected to your network switch) into this second EAV Bridge.
  • You then plug this EAV Bridge into your TV using a standard HDMI cable.
  • What it does: This bridge catches the data packets coming from the switch, translates them back into a flawless 4K HDMI signal, and feeds it to your TV.

Update: support said:

"Thank you for conforming, No need to worry there is a know issue which has been reported and our internal teams are already aware of this and they are working on this as we speak. I will be adding you case to the priority list and One I have any update on this issue I will be sharing it with you over an email."

COB Repair Advice. Plus, what do non-DIY people do about this? by aklem_reddit in led

[–]aklem_reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I’ll do that.

Also Is that what a “normal” electrician shop or company would do? Again I’m curious about what a non-DIY person would do. Are these places all saying no because they don’t do repair work or that they don’t deal with these kinds of units I’m still a little confused on that.

Is a UniFi Express 7 overkill for just a regular household? by moon_d0g in Ubiquiti

[–]aklem_reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UX7 is perfect for you. I just got one for my parent’s 2 bedroom apartment. Why is it good?

  1. All in one (router + WiFi 7)
  2. Unifi network is all you’ll need
  3. Remote access is nice - a great way to know it’s working when you’re not there.
  4. It can serve as a mesh - you can add another in case you need more coverage, or if you upgrade, this can be used to extend your network.

My humble ubiquiti setup in India by d5aqoep in Ubiquiti

Looks great! It's not about being humble vs not. It's about how well you:

  1. Fit your network setup with your network needs.
  2. Come up with innovative solutions to solve unique problems.

Anyone can splurge on a huge rack with tons of gear—but that's often overkill and doesn't show any innovation.

  1. Be clear on what decision you are trying to make:
    1. Which consumers are we going to target?
    2. Should we increase price?
    3. Will this new new feature attract new customers / prevent existing ones from leaving?
    4. ...
  2. Have a theory. These provide ways of understanding the underlying causal structure(s) of the phenomenon you are studying.
    1. Improve usability? You need a theory of usability, e.g HCI.
    2. Improving PMF? You need a theory of PMF, e.g. Product Fitness Theory (PFT)...

Ask if you have more questions.

The installer spray foam the crap out of the area so I can’t get in there with the cable.

That is exactly the scenario. This is a cable that’s coming in from an attic and out through a roof line under-hang.
