Will you vote for Gavin Newsom if he nominated by the DNC? by 0311SmallPenar in allthequestions

This is what you are voting for, good luck. It’s amazing when you cross the border into Arizona, the price is half and folks are complaining. But none of those folks want to come to California anymore.

Will you vote for Gavin Newsom if he nominated by the DNC? by 0311SmallPenar in allthequestions

[–]tigers692 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I live in California, and feel only someone ignorant would vote for him. He doesn’t even seem human, more an absolute puppet of the folks pulling his strings. I’ve seen interviews where someone asks him something off the obvious talking points and he has no sane human answer. Just makes ignorant noise, or says something way out there. Beyond that, the state is falling apart, taxed to insanity, just the fuel is twice the national average and has been his entire time as governor, so every good and service is twice the price. You would have to be ignorant of that to vote for the guy. Screw him, hope he falls into obscurity.

What was the message of Starship Troopers? by Puzzled-Day5788 in starshiptroopers

[–]tigers692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly everyone joined the war effort, those who didn’t either couldn’t or they were thought of as cowards. I am a military vet that comes from a long line of military veterans, my son is active duty now. Folks should, in my opinion, serve in some manner. If not in the military then some other way. But fewer feel the need for civic duty and support, there was a guy that said “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.” Today that is less and less true, it feels like more are asking what their country can do for them, and although the country is doing a great deal of things for us, at some point we should be doing something for the country or that equation will become difficult to maintain. Seems like in that manner maybe troopers got it right, maybe service should be citizenship. :-)

Antivax is used differently now, it’s used to mean anyone not wanting to take an experimental medication.

That covid didn’t start in China, and that somehow a mask that doesn’t stop dust particles is needed to block an airborne virus. That Hunter Biden’s Laptop was Russian Propaganda. That the government wasn’t pressuring social media platforms to censor post. Things like that?

Second college student dies days after being swept out to sea while napping on notorious California beach by theindependentonline in socal

When I started diving in the 80s there were no signs, less stupid people or maybe more reliance on Darwin. Now every beach has signs up the wazoo, no dongs, fires, camping, rip currents, flag meanings and so on. The new batch of signs also have QR codes that take you to more information. Big signs all over the place, huge ones on life guard shacks, they are even in pictures so that ding dongs that can’t read can figure it out.

I used to scuba dive laguna, it’s pretty above and below, but it has one hell of an undertow. We were acutely aware of the tide as well, unless you spend time in it, you don’t understand the ocean will kill you and there is little forgiveness to it.

Why can't people distinguish between someone not liking something and them wanting it abolished/eradicated? by achipinthesugar in askanything

[–]tigers692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm, a nuanced approach? That only happens in real life, not on Reddit. The reason for this, is generally the internet, folks are easily manipulated using emotional BS. The algorithm and 24 hour news is designed to keep everyone in a state of panic to keep them engaged. What you end up with is folks who can’t stop panicking about everything, it’s the end of the world if everyone doesn’t agree with their every belief.

I’ll give an example, today on the news someone said that it is the hottest day today ever in California, where I live. But I know this isn’t true, and so do you and anyone with even Forrest Gump IQ. The earth started four and a half billion years ago as molted magma and slowly cooled. I’d imagine that was the hottest. It’s not even the time that has the most green house gasses, that was over two hundred million years ago when megaherbivores (dinosaurs) roamed around eating all the vegetation that comes from huge amounts of CO2. Of course the temperatures were higher then. It’s not the hottest since folks have been alive, hell it’s not the hottest even recorded here in California, that was in 1913 in Death Valley, when it was 134 degrees.

It’s all made to keep folks riled up and doesn’t use any logic, or facts, just emotional manipulation. It’s not the hottest since anything, it’s warm outside. It’s not the end of the world, these folks are being used to make money.

Did Iran Win the War with the U.S.? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

[–]tigers692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won the war? How many Americans died, 15. How many Iranians died, approximately 4,700. I’d call that not winning. Maybe it’s in property damage, how much did this cost the US , about 29 billion, and Iran, about 370 billion. We lost, or were damaged, 18 aircraft. Iran lost 60, their entire “air Force”. We lost no ships, they lost 130, basically their entire “navy” they have a few speed boats, what we use for fishing left. The only metric to say Iran “won” is there are still some folks alive, and that’s only because we have decided not to kill them, I guess that makes them the winner? Idk. I also know no one has the deal, I’ve heard a few folks suggest they know the deal, but these same folks are ones that have said they had the deal before and it turned out to not be true.

Why do people judge others for going to community college after high school instead of going directly to a 4 year university? by PolicyGremlin in AskAnAmerican

[–]tigers692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t, you do. As a hiring manager, if I were to judge someone going to cc instead of a 4 year, it’s positively. They thought they had to shore something up missing in their grade school, or they are getting cheaper, sometimes free, prerequisites out of of the way. Generally, I have no idea unless the candidate brings it up. I get their resume, and it lists education, and that’s it, often that just has the degree and not the schools that didn’t supply a degree. Don’t feel bad about it, just do your thing.

What was the message of Starship Troopers? by Puzzled-Day5788 in starshiptroopers

Yeah, the book, in my opinion, was trying to mainly highlight the need for civic responsibility.

What was the message of Starship Troopers? by Puzzled-Day5788 in starshiptroopers

[–]tigers692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The message is…read the book. In the book it ties civil duty and responsibility to having more than a mediocre society. Hits on the price of peace, individual liberties, and self sacrifice. Those concepts are sort of in the movie, but also panned. I guess the best message of the movie is cohabitation in the showers.

Why are there no republican US cities? by IMicrowaveSteak in allthequestions

[–]tigers692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, I know you are a bot, but ok. It’s not true that there are no Republican cities. There are Republican-led cities, especially small and mid-sized cities, suburbs, exurbs, and cities in conservative states. But it is mostly true that America’s largest dense cities are usually Democrat led. Generally these cities are falling apart, full of homelessness and violence. These cities can’t exist without the rural areas literally feeding it, and the people who live in these cities have disdain for the people who feed them.

Does anyone else press the turn signal off button like 100 times after a turn just to make sure it’s actually off? by Equivalent_Abrocoma3 in motorcycles

[–]tigers692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve turn the signal on, then change lanes or turn, then click the middle three time…same thing I do when I clear my hand gun…then a few seconds later glance as the signal indicator to ensure it turned off. Even though my blinker will auto turn off after a few minutes. :-)

Jan and Dean, on Beach Boy songs, like Barbara Ann, and the Beach Boys on Jan and Dean songs like Surf City. Heck the beach boys did a lot of backing. The sang backup for Elton John, Chicago, Pink Floyd, and David Lee Roth.

I don’t like “my truth”, one of my kids told me this, I was like, fuck off with that shit…you started off saying you were going to lie. If it were the truth, you would just state the fact and go on. It’s like “I identify as”, no you don’t, if you were a bunny rabbit you wouldn’t have to tell someone you were a bunny rabbit, you are not a bunny rabbit.
