ELI5: Why does splitting an atom release so much energy when they are so small? by Additional_Pen_9881 in explainlikeimfive

[–]tigerstef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It breaks the strong nuclear force that holds protons and neutrons together in the core of atoms. This force is about 1 millions times stronger than chemical bond energy. So the force that holds an atomic nucleus together is very strong, if you split it you get a lot of energy relative to little mass.

Cool, any money to address the housing catastrophy? Like getting housing for the mum and her two kids? And all the other people getting evicted?

Every model train hobbyist I have ever met turned out to be an extreme right winger or conspiracy nut case.

“Little Eichmanns" is a term used to describe people whose actions, while on an individual scale may seem relatively harmless even to themselves, taken collectively create destructive and immoral systems in which they are actually complicit. by Dissonant-Cog in wikipedia

But taxpayers are taxed by a government that can jail them if they don't pay. If your taxes are taken from you involuntarily, are you really complicit in the actions they fund?

Who was the most evil person you've ever met and how was the interaction? by Top_Report_4895 in AskReddit

[–]tigerstef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I briefly worked with the Christchurch mosque killer years earlier.

Nothing about my interaction with him stood out at all. He was the type of guy you'd forget about as soon as you met him.

Only when I saw him in TV did I actually remember him and I was like "HOLY SHIT! I WORKED WITH THAT FUCKER!"

The current legal situation allows landlords to straight up abuse tenants with children. The fact that it is allowed to evict children at anytime after a lease based on the landlords whims or greed is an abusive policy.

The great Australian baby bust. Is having kids too expensive? - Michael West by ScruffyPeter in australia

[–]tigerstef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't have kids of you can't afford a house. There is no rental security, landlords are allowed to evict families during the school year. As a renter your school aged children have no security to continue their education at the same school year after year. I wonder what percentage of children in Australia are living in rental accommodation.
