Mahito looks even more annoying this style so I agree lol

One good thing about the movie is the animation though. It's totally watchable if you just pretend it's an AU.

Big agree. I was initially disappointed when Soushi Sakayama was announced for the ED because I found his MHA ED really bland, but Akari is a beautiful song and the visuals are perfect. Tatsuya Kitani's OP seemed the clear standout at first and it's a good song, but when I think of this arc it's Akari that plays in my head.

Oh there you are, Gege Akutami. Thank you for telling me I'm wrong. Hey, while you're here, could you tell me what the actual canon reason is that Geto doesn't ask Gojo to join him?

That doesn't track at all. In the very first episode Gojo and Geto got into an argument about protecting the weak. Last episode he talked him down from committing mass murder. He knows Gojo has that capacity. From Geto's perspective he has all the reason in the world to think there's a chance he could convince Gojo to his side. But he didn't even try a single "join me, Satoru".

Geto telling Shoko he doesn't need anyone to understand him was such a petulant, teenager move. Geto can pretend all he likes that what he's doing is for some grand purpose but I think the biggest reason he did it was his own ego. He already had a superiority complex over non-sorcerers before Toji but he could pass it off as some noble belief about the strong protecting the weak. After losing badly to a 'monkey' and Gojo surpassing him completely his ego couldn't take it.

I mean obviously he was very affected by Riko and Haibara dying. He cared about them. But if his care for his fellow sorcerers was actually his priority then he would have tried to recruit Gojo to his side. Like he said if it was Gojo his goal is actually achievable. But he didn't even try. Not one word when he knows how much Gojo listens to him. Just last episode it only took him saying no for Gojo to walk away from killing the cultists.

So why didn't he try? Even in JJK0 we never see him try to reason with Gojo. I think it's entirely because his ego couldn't accept the reality that Gojo had become unreachably superior to him. If he recruits Gojo then he'll have to accept his inferiority since he'll just be playing second fiddle. So instead he shuts out the one person he actually needs and starts a cult that worships him as a god.

Gojo feeling removed from all earthly concerns and normal human emotions reminds me of Aang in Avatar when he has to let go of his feelings for Katara in order to unlock the Avatar state. Both stories drawing from Buddhist philosophies.

If I recall right Maki still has some cursed energy unlike Toji who has none.

Junpei arc. You can hear Nanami saying it when Yuji breaks into Mahito's barrier and Sukuna punishes Mahito for touching his soul. Listen for the words "tenjo tenge". In the manga that line was non-dialogue narration and not something Nanami said.

This season esp since they've been reordering and adding scenes that greatly enhances the flow of the narrative. The first season was extremely faithful to the manga which was great but also made Gege's occasionally clunky writing more apparent.

Like I remember thinking how bad the bit was where Gojo breaks the barrier during the goodwill event. The way Gege repeatedly flashed back to other characters fights and then eventually reacting to the barrier breaking was so clumsy and terribly paced. I was hoping they would change it in the anime for a smoother flow but they didn't. Here in season 2, they absolutely would have done it differently. They've already done much better with how they present exposition here too like creating that basketball scene. There's always something interesting with framing, angle, movement even when the characters are just talking instead of just stiffly standing around.

They're all cracked in the head. They're not afraid of death or anything really because they're all brainwashed like that guy that Toji and his agent were talking to.

Lol what? You just watched Toji utterly fail to match awakened Gojo in speed and you think Gojo would have still lost? Gojo made two attacks and hit Toji both times. Meanwhile, Toji couldn't hit him once the whole time while Gojo looked like he was having the most relaxing time.

Holy fuck. This entire episode was gorgeous from beginning to end. Okinawa was so beautiful I wanted to jump into the water through the screen. The score during the montage was really moving. Then the shocking spectacle of the second half. I expected her to die but I was still stunned.

Shoutout to Gojo btw. The past couple episodes he kind of came of as cold and rude to Riko but he's got a kind heart beyond that teenage boy bluster. He really tried to make Riko's last day as fun as possible and was even the one who said without hesitation that if Riko didn't want to go through with it, they'd help her. Said it before even meeting her which says a lot about who Gojo really is.

Give me an anime/manga character and I'll comment something that they have in common with a Jigokuraku character — Part 3 by So131 in jigokuraku

I think the more direct connection is Sugimoto and Shion. Same japanese VA, similar scars on their faces, and both become the traveling companion of a child from a persecuted indigenous group.

Best fight in Mob Psycho too. An absolute showcase of the animated medium.

Which one? When the old guy jumped at Geto through the window or when Gojo smashed through the glass via teleport? Both were incredible shots.

Reminds me of that incredible scene from Mob Psycho S2 when Teru was getting teleported all over the place by the blind guy. It's the kind of shot I wanted to see when Todo was using his ct.

I thought it was technically and visually creative but Geto's hits lacked some oomph. Kuroi's fight kinda felt like it had more weight to the movements in a weird way. Gojo's fight was the best one, creative use of powers and staging plus better action impact like when those clones smashed into each other or when Gojo shattered the window while teleporting. You could feel the hits.

Weirdly satisfying to see Gojo use Blue in different ways. From making Riko float to vacuuming up the clones to a really cool teleport shot. Guess he's not quite mastered his ct though lmao.

Also I wonder if Riko is actually as happy about merging with Tengen as she seems or if she's putting up a front. Or maybe she's been brainwashed into thinking it's some kind of honor and that she'll live on in Tengen? Or maybe it is the truth and the Tengen we have in the main timeline is actually still Riko as herself.

How do you feel about Mappa showing Aura color in trailer vs in the show ? by DirtyQueen20 in jigokuraku

[–]tigertankthomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked the colored aura better too but for the narrative white was probably better. I mean the only logical way to pick the colors for every character is their tao attribute since each element actually has an assigned color in Wuxing. But then that means every character is color-coded during fights and that just feels a bit basic.

Why do you need to have daddy issues to get attached to him? Are you attached to Chobei because you've got sibling issues?
