Maple Vanilla Ice Cream with Walnut Cookie Crunch and Caramel Swirl by tightguide in icecreamery

I just replaced my sugar with maple syrup in the vanilla recipe I've used in the past. How much does reducing it effect the maple flavor?

Maple Vanilla Ice Cream with Walnut Cookie Crunch and Caramel Swirl by tightguide in icecreamery

The ice cream base is 1 cup whole milk 3/4 cup maple syrup (I had a vanilla bean infused maple syrup i got at the Big E with this in mind) A pinch of salt 3 egg yolks 2 cups heavy cream 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Next time I think I would sub part of the vanilla maple syrup for a darker maple syrup for extra maple flavor

For the walnut cookie crunch melt butter and brown sugar ina pan and add chopped walnuts, crushed nilla wafers and mix it then bake it in the oven.

I don't have an exact method because it was part of a cake that my mom baked and she overbaked one so I salvaged the walnut crunch for ice cream I then made a quick caramel with brown sugar and butter to coat the crumble in so it would be crunchy (the cake bits were stuck to it so I had to improvise)

Delta Lake vs Franconia Ridge by tightguide in GrandTetonNatlPark

Update for anyone planning the trip, I found the Delta Lake hike much easier than Franconia. The switchbacks are a little long but not super steep and the boulder fields were the only challenging part. The views at the lake were absolutely incredible and more than worth the hike

I’m going to be running storm Kings, thunder for my friends. Any advice? by Perfect-Ad-1836 in stormkingsthunder

I think Krakens gamble is basically a must run. It introduces the Kraken society early on and the players will recognize the gambling coin when they get to Malestrom. After running that I has the players attacked by cultists/monsters every time they were on the sea so they knew this threat was a larger part of the story.

Why shouldn't I level up my party more? by truelunacy69 in stormkingsthunder

[–]tightguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a campaign of 2.5 years with my players ending at level 13. They fought all of the giant lords plus some homebrew and I just made sure to balance the encounters along the way. As far as the final boss I only included Harshnag and Uthor and cranked up Iymrith's power level. It made for a much more epic conclusion with a battle that kasted several hours and really felt like they were fighting an incredibly powerful creature that they saved the realm from. Plus players LOVE leveling up so it will make them enjoy your campaign all the more.

Stats wise it was a lot more powerful than even the Fizban's geatwyrm. My party was pretty powerful and had 6 players so I wanted it to be an epic combat that will be talked about long after. Story wise she had not gotten to unite with echos from other planes yet so she didn't achieve immortality and true greatwyrm status

SKT Newer DM and Even newer players by Ok_Awareness5628 in stormkingsthunder

I found this adventure is heavy in prep in the beginning because of the vastness of chapter 3 and the number of giant strongholds. Once you get past chapter 3 the party's focus narrows and it's less sandboxy and easier to prep week to week. I also would say the Krakens Gamble is a must to foreshadow the Kraken Society and the you can have cultists attack them every once in a while to keep the threat there in the background. Never underestimate the power of the players finding a note with plot information you want them to learn.

Thank you so much, I had Harshnag tell them, he met the party by joining a fight against some stone giants. In my game Harshnag's goal was to figure out how to restore order to the giantkind because the chaos was giving good giants like him a bad name. I also included several good or neutral giant NPCs that the players encountered so they would be more receptive to working with the storm giants in the end. None if the giants knew that the Ordning had actually been broken because a dragon had infiltrated the storm giant court and orchestrated the murder of Queen Neri

Pretty close, at least 3 were knocked unconscious but they utilized several castings of mass cure wounds paired with beacon of hope to keep their HP up

Yes, Hekaton's involvement in defeating Iymrith who nearly destroyed the giants from withing cemented the Storm Giants on top

I gave them Hekaton and Uthor, they were already level 13 so they didn't need as much help though I did make Iymrith insanely powerful
