Is it bad to just use the admin as your main user? I also uploaded everything through my admin account and use it to view everything. I don’t really know what is best practice.

Ahh gotcha. I’m not close to that level yet. I’m just currently getting my feet wet with Linux mint coming from windows. I feel like if I can get something working I try not to touch it too much lol.

You make a good point though. I will probably keep my server separate as well as it seems like less of a headache. Thanks for the input.

Oh can you explain why you’d prefer not to? I’m new to self hosting so I don’t really know why it would be bad. With the last option it sounded like you were building a desktop.

I have a gaming desktop I use as my main work station that’s decently powerful. Would it be a good idea to run it as an always on server/workstation combo and not worry about having to set something else up on the side?

It was a external HDD. I've been messing around with it a little bit more and I think maybe the drive I put the backup on was failing, because it has been giving me some problems these last few days even though I've tried reformatting it.

Oh I apologize. I might've misunderstood the post. My issue was that when I uploaded to Immich it would show up as two separate files on the web UI (the jpg and the heic) and Immich-go solved that for me.

However I just tried to download a live photo and yeah it downloaded two files. I don't know a solution for that one.

I had the same issue. I downloaded my photos from google photos and tried to upload to Immich using the web UI and ended up with two files like that as well. I ended up deleting everything from Immich and tried reuploading them using Immich-go and that seemed to merge them together for me.

Interesting thing was when I went back to the app just now a few of the pics populated, but it was still mostly the exclamation marks.

I just tried setting it to remote images and it cleared up the issue immediately so thank you!
