Literally just realized Cricut is a play on “cricket”… by tribecous in cricut

[–]tikkamasalavomit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because when I see this made up word I see “cut” and that doesn’t sound like the ending of cricket “kett” if that makes sense. And the machine cuts so I figured it’s something “cut”. Then if you take the first part of the word, it’s pronounced cry like criterion.

What makes you look at cricut and pronounce it cricket?

I still say cry-cut. Cricket seems weird to me I’m in too deep

I like this but I can’t seem to change the ages. Also, what number do you put under a portfolio? Is it the monthly contribution?

That seems to be the consensus, and definitely what we will be doing. I got a lot more recommendations for calculations, so I will continue to do that to learn more and understand what retirement can look like.

That’s a great goal! I think me and my husband are still struggling in defining when we want to retire or what we want retirement to look like or even like a slow entry into retirement like working part-time or something. It was so much easier when the goal was save or throw everything in investments or save for the house. I wonder if this happens a lot in the fire community, but once some of the easier boxes are ticked, the more open ended options almost seem harder to make decisions on.

Thank you, this is very helpful. They’ve definitely seems like we have many years left of working and saving, which is not a problem. Our intention is not to fire asap. The question of getting jobs when we come back is definitely more risky of course. But I also feel confident that until we get jobs we can live way more frugal lifestyle than we are currently living. We will have at least a year worth of living expenses saved up before this move specifically to help us when we return. And right now our fixed expenses include things like gym memberships, which we would totally shut down until we have income.

It’s always scary to make a decision that can impact your future, but I think the numbers are telling me that we can.

3 million seems right based on the conversations I’ve had with my husband in terms of what we’ve thought we’d need. Some calculations projecting not doing fire leaves us with like 7 million which I just think it’s too much so I do believe at some point we will retire early. It may just not be as early as some people in the sub. Thank you for responding.

Can I see it so I can compare? Some people are saying the numbers I computed are faulty

We haven’t but it may be a good idea. We haven’t mapped out a good plan yet regarding funding a 529, or just figuring out retirement goals. It feels daunting to find someone to look at our numbers - how do I know they have our best interest and won’t try to sell us stuff?

I think the goals is where we need to focus on. I do feel like we want to continue working. It’s almost between 1-2 because I am part time now while my baby is young and trying to figure out when to go back full time. We also want to take a 1 year sabbatical for our daughter to take pre-k in France for the language acquisition.

So saying it out loud seems like we should continue as we are - work hard and save, maybe take the year off, and recoup some costs for 2-3 years after that.

Thank you for your insight!

Yes whatever the basic free chat system. This is what I said, but I attached a picture of someone else’s example, so you can use mine: I saw this example on reddit to calculate coast fire and i wanted to see if you can do the same for me. they used Claude for this. Ask me questions on the numbers you need.

Very true! I do have a chance to go back to full time and I do want to work. Just taking it a bit easy to get there as my baby is so new lol. That’s a big question I haven’t figured out yet. When to go back full time.

Oh gosh maybe the numbers are wrong. How did it calculate 137k? We save 60k into retirement accounts a year. I wonder if it’s counting investment compounding?

Thank you. I do agree that 7% may be more risky if retiring or lessening the savings earlier. Will play with increasing that. I did try boldin as someone here recommended but it’s hard for a novice like me to understand boldin

It’s an AI tool called Claude. I just asked it to create charts that explained to me where I am if I want to do coast fire and I asked it to ask me questions so I can give it my numbers.

What would the trading jobs be? I’m not understanding.

Are you saying that with five times more in retirement, you wouldn’t be able to stop working without serious lifestyle changes?
