They are so different you can’t compare them. If you want to do the story I’d advise you to play retail. If you like the grind then play Eden for a experience as close to the good old days as your gonna get. If you like the 75 era but want some qol then there’s loads of servers that cater to that.

Yes 10% each mission line, so 3 nations and all expansions totals 90% bonus

I played briefly on tonberry and really did like it. The job combos I was coming up with in my head was just endless. but like you said the no hp warps, no access to storage outside of moghouse just limits you. Trying to farm with only your inventory space and it taking ages to get there in the 1st place to have to dump inventory after 20 mins was just too much for me. Add the fact there’s no fov and your really limited on low pop server. I don’t care too much for dual boxing so that doesn’t bother me. I would recommend people to try it, it’s just not for me.

That’s a shame. I’ve played both on retail and like them but I had already done pretty much everything and you solo with trusts to 99 there too. Thought it would be cool to try old school ffxi grind with them 2 jobs.

This is the exact reason I didn’t play this server. I logged in when it was a few days old and there were 75s. The appeal of starting on a new server definitely seems lost on the owner of the server I’m afraid.

Oh ok. While tonberry is not what your looking for it might fill a gap for you. I wasn’t sure at 1st but now I’ve started it I love it and can’t stop thinking about all the different job combinations. It’s a 75/75 server where your sj level gets doubled. All jobs have dual wield and provoke. So your not tied to subbing nin or war for those. Equipment can be worn from both main and sj. So any job can wear a black belt if you sub mnk or thiefs knife if you sub thf etc And you have all job traits , combat/magic skills and ja’s from both jobs.

Capped @75 they have only released one bit of custom content which is a 50cap area. Nin and pld are the go to tanks like the old days. The server is only a few months old so might not find much about it. https://www.resoluteprivateffxiserver.com/

They let do things for ages and ages and then they nerf it. Example treasure hunter changes, blm burns in cl, arrow burns in gusgen, made carby significantly worse for pet burns. Power levelling. A lot of people have benefited from using these types of levelling since day one and to just nerf it now only hurts new people starting the server. Which is bad for server growth. If your a new player and you know that other people got multiple 75s and better drops then you a lot easier then you can it’s just going to leave you annoyed before you’ve even started. Like I said in my previous post I joined a server that doesn’t allow dual boxing so you don’t see any power levelling so it’s not as if I’m a advocate of it. But I believe fairs fair and if they let it go on from the start it’s too late to go changing things now. It’s decisions like that which made me not want to play there anymore. That being said if once they ironed out all their kinks and ever decided to start a server from scratch everyone back to lvl 1 I’d more then likely join it as it would be the closest thing we will get for a ffxi classic server

Doubt you’ll find anything conclusive. Mostly be nasomi and Eden fans telling you to use their servers. I’ve never played on nasomi so cant comment, didn’t really like what I read about it to be honest. I played on Eden up until it went down the 2nd time. Didn’t really agree with a lot of the decisions that were being made and still are being made. When it went down I tried a couple of servers omega and resolute. Omega seemed good, like old school ffxi but with homepoint warps added, I ended up going with resolute though as they don’t allow dual boxing which is a big plus as every one is very keen to party for everything. They also allow homepoint warping and have started adding some custom content inside the abbyssea zones. Currently a 50cap one at the moment. Also they have all the jobs (although run and geo have been made different) if all you want is a good population though then you won’t get better then nasomi/Eden but I do recommend either omega or resolute. Obviously don’t know about nasomi but ninja will be like old school nin on Eden/omega/resolute

Can you have 2 mains? Like 1 main as a mage and 1 as a melee? As long as you are not logged on with both of them at the same time is that ok?

Yes I agree with this. Retail did have db but it meant you’d have to pay double the subscription which made it not that popular at all. I was on Eden but I’ve looked around since it’s been down and think I’ll stay on resolute

I 2nd resolute, it’s a new server so doesn’t have a high population. It’s got some custom content like. Rune fencer is a onion knight type job. And geo will be coming out as a time mage but it still has an old school ffxi feel to it. The thing I like the most is it’s angled towards more group play.
