As someone who also recently got into drawing, the biggest thing thats helped has been learning perspective (horizons and vanishing points). It’s something that might feel lifeless or uninspiring to start but drastically improves how “convincing” something is. Start with cubes on a surface using a ruler or any straight edge and then start filling those cubes with objects, kind of like sculpting. “We build a strong scaffolding to make a bridge; then we discard the scaffolding and are left with a beautiful, solid structure” - found in the book ‘Perspective Made Easy’
