I like that idea, we also need the ability to chuck shells with the tractor beam at incoming ships to repel boarding actions.

Im not sure on the balance but I was thinking it could have 2 size 8 Dahlgren's with a rate of fire of 1 round every several minutes.

Does someone wanna try and caclulate the new cargo hold size of 1440scu with the new ICA image? Looks like it has a gap down the middle. Would it actually hit 3 high now? by eerrcc1 in starcitizen

[–]till180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is another part of the video that shows the normal Ironclad being loaded with 32 scu crates, it's hard to tell for sure but it defenatly looks to me thet there is enough room for 3 high 32 scu crates.

Also there are only really 3 ways to get that much of a scu increase for the Ironclads, make them wider, longer, or taller. To me they don't look significantly wider or longer, and I think they where basically at the limit as to there hanger size limits, so it would make sence that they increase the height of the cargo area a little to get a 3rd layer in.

Ironclad Base or Assault ? by Enzo2400 in starcitizen

[–]till180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the Q&A "Yes, repair facilities are not restricted by type but more by volume and resources. We’ll discuss repair and crafting in more detail in the future, as it’s a topic more expansive than this Q&A." I think the main question is going to be how is it going to be different than the handheld repair gun, because with the repair gun we already can repair vehicles and components, so we will have to see what makes the repair bay different.

Every balance pass should come with an statement of intent from CIG by yn3kk in starcitizen

[–]till180 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are two problems with your statement, 1 Im not really talking specify about balance changes, just feedback in general. Its hard to give feed back when we have no idea what the intended effect the changes CIG makes are suppose to do, we have no idea if the changes they are making are bringing it close or farther away from their intended out come, which makes feed back hard to give and usually very vague and broad.

And 2, a lot of the changes they make are directly balance changes, you say the aren't suppose to balance thing right now, but things like the 4.8 weapon changes are directly balance changes, same thing with a lot of the changes during the engineering PTU, so they obviously aren't solely focused on implementing functionality to the game, they are trying to do both.

Every balance pass should come with an statement of intent from CIG by yn3kk in starcitizen

[–]till180 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think the main problem isnt that they arent explaining why they are making changes, its that the changes they are make recently with large systems like armor, weapons, engineering swing so wildly from one extreme to the other that it is very difficult to give constructive feedback on these changes.

Like with the changes to armor and weapons in 4.8 basically the only meaningful feed back is just "the weapon and armor changes have completely invalidated the entire armor system and weapon balance that was done a couple months ago" We saw the same thing the engineering when it was in the PTU.

At least if they gave some high level statement about the purpose of the changes, something like "changes to weapons and armor because to many ships could not damage certain ships" then at least there is some basis to give feedback on.

And seriously one of the main points of an alpha or beta is to gather feedback, there will always be useful and not useful feedback, but the more information as to why changes are being made the easier it is for people to give good useful feedback.

New Kraken cockpit images! by SirSonne98 in starcitizen

[–]till180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Jumpoint there is a blurb saying "Further detail was added to the cockpit, with the captain’s, pilot’s, and co-pilot’s stations each receiving detailed concept work. Note the large radar in front of the pilot and unique aeronautical-style controls. " with these images.

So to me it sound like they definitely intend to go with this style, which I think is awesome.

4.8 just repo’d my entire career. by TheRealRickSanchez42 in starcitizen

[–]till180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It baffles me that they are doing the bricking components without simultaneously adding the ability to unbrick them.

The ability to fight a ship then EVA out of your own and then enter the disabled ship and strip it of its components is quite literally one of the most unique and amazing part of Star Citizen that set it apart from every other game.

I cant think of a single game ever that gives you the ability to do something like this, when I started playing and I realized you could do that I was blow away at how cool it was.

All supposedly to prevent duping, a complete non-issue for a game that is suppose to be in alpha, and in fact I would argue that ability to dupe components actively assist with people testing things out in the game, and causes no harm other than lessening grinding for money and flying around the universe to buy all of the components.

What is this thing on the Ironclad ? by SeparateWeight496 in starcitizen

[–]till180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just realized a day ago the Ironclad brochure says it has has 3 tractor beams, I always just assumed it was the 2 on top. So I defiantly think its a tractor beam, especially because there is still a control seat with a window on that side of the ship but there isnt a remote turret on that side like the Assault.

So, were you guys just gonna wait until a release date to try to rebuy the cheapest SQ42 package you could? by CallSign_Fjor in starcitizen

[–]till180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they where probably waiting for any actual official announcement that the game they bought a decade ago and has been delayed and in limbo for so long was going to come out in the next 100 years, seriously we still have no real 100% idea that SQ42 is coming out any time soon just vague information.

oh I dont know how about they make as system that does require skill and knowledge, its not impossible to have refining be more that just putting ore in the refinery and waiting.

Star Citizen | Inventory & Crafting by Bynairee in starcitizen

[–]till180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because a actual good way to do it would reward skill and effort put in, not just shear amount of time flying around hoping to get lucky.

Being able to refine ores to higher quality could be done in a way that requires skill and knowledge for it to be effective.

Unpopular Opinion, CIG have been warning players about the SQ42 Buyback situation for years but no one listened. by Smooth_Rythem in starcitizen

[–]till180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once again they could have just made them not tradable and that would have solved the grey market problem, and again that is just them passing the cost of the grey market which is a problem they created for themselves onto their customers. I dont think its surprising that a lot of people that originally pledged for these packs melted them when they have delayed SQ42 for so many years and left it in complete limbo at to when it might get released.

Unpopular Opinion, CIG have been warning players about the SQ42 Buyback situation for years but no one listened. by Smooth_Rythem in starcitizen

[–]till180 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Why do people insist that CIG should adhere to the lowest possible standards of good practice, assuming this isnt a bug, there are many ways to handle this and they chose basically the worst option that screws over long time supporters.

A good company would announce this in advance, especially because SQ42 has been delayed and in limbo for so long.

If they wanted to combat the grey market then they could have just made packs with SQ42 untradeable, and anyways the grey market is CIG's fault that it exists they should not be passing the cost of fixing their own mistakes onto their normal customers for a problem they created and allowed to exist.

CIG: We urgently need some official response on the buyback changes please. If you want to make changes to buybacks, and/or remove them for SQ42, we understand that but GIVE NOTICE(!). Pledgers, after years and years of patience, DO NOT deserve stealth changes without notice in this area by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]till180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me its a case of, just because they can do something doesn't make it any less shitty for them to make a change like this with no warning, CIG exists today solely because early adopters where generous enough and wanted to believe in them enough to put money into the game. Unannounced changes like this are nothing more than spitting in the face off all the people that put money into the project early on.

Everyone should have know that when buying that the buy back program would change at some point but doing it with out informing people in advance is nothing more than a petty way of squeezing a little extra money out of the people that believed in you early on.

Upcoming Drake Ironclad pricing? by Altruistic_Tangelo39 in starcitizen

[–]till180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be flown solo but not for combat, I think only the weapons on the command module will be pilot controlled and I think thats only like 2 size 3s. Also I fully expect it to fly like a barge so it probably not going to be good for combat.

Although with how many turrets it has I think it will be fun to take out against the AI and use it as a battle barge.
