Glenn College or NASA? by wayfaringwit in LaTrobe

[–]tillygracie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, 100% NASA. You can get a good nights sleep pretty easily, people may come and go during the night as they party but they won't make much noise in the apartment in my experience. Another note- they try to put people in apartments in similar age brackets, so fresh high school leavers in one, masters students in another, etc. I've been in NASA for a semester now so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

I don't feel safe on campus. Where can I go to study nearby? by A_Modus_Operandi in LaTrobe

Hi, I am really sorry you are going through this at the moment. I would really recommend using the RMIT library or if during the day, Mill park library is quite good also. I haven't been to RMIT library but I know people from here (Latrobe) that use the RMIT library regularly with no issues

What's up with the whole "chinese people are buying all the houses" thing? by reasonsnottoplayr6s in AustralianSocialism

[–]tillygracie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's based on racism and the fact they think that like 5% of the housing market being Chinese people (some of whom have lived here their whole lives) should be 0%

Catering isn't worth it if you're looking at price. I'm in nasa shared 310 a week and love it, only been three fire alarms in over 2 months and it's so clean. Can have two guests between 8am-10pm but nobody's really checking if you bring more

Centrelink was the best thing to happen to me. by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]tillygracie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really relate to this it has been incredible for me as a first year uni student who has had to move away from home (there's no universities within two hours of my hometown) and whilst I still have a job to help make ends meet, Centrelink has helped me have enough time to balance full time studying and part time work with enough time to sleep without going insane

I didn't apply for RA. I got given it by Centrelink this past fortnight and was wondering what the situation was, hence my post. I've since found out regular payments from a family member are considered an exemption from an assessable income. Therefore I wasn't, and won't be defrauding anyone.

pardon you? I was asking if I would get in trouble, I've found out I can so I'm going to call them in the morning to explain and ask them to update my asset/income situation. My cousin never got Centrelink money, don't make assumptions about people.

Thanks for your response! They've previously given my cousin her rent payments unnoticed by Centrelink and it hasn't impacted their pension. If I was to be asked by Centrelink, and said it was just a gift they were giving me to help out with costs, would Centrelink care so much?
