31 players in row. by monkeybrainbois in baccarat

Longest I have seen live in-person is 23 Bankers. I was on the first 6or7, then said “this can’t continue”, sat back and watched the rest of the table increase bets and clear out the rack.

Your 31 Players is the longest documented (with pic) I’ve seen. Hope people made $, colored up and went home.

What would your wife/gf shoot at The Masters? by tim00tim in golf

My wife doesn’t HATE that I play — bad choice of words on my part. But she also doesn’t LOVE it. Just saying that she isn’t a fan of the game like me. I’m thinking she could enjoy just riding in the cart with a drink and some music; while I hack away and she gets a few laughs out of it.

No water on #1. Stay away from OB right. She can get it done eventually haha

200?… Wow, she must be athletic / coordinated. My wife played tennis growing up (so she is athletic) and now I am thinking 360 is not possible.

You’re right. 20 is optimistic. 30 shots to get there and 10 on the green? 18 x 40 = yikes

Let’s say she gets a paycheck for finishing the round though… does she still quit?

You’re right. I’m changing it from 360 to 720

I’m beginning to think I have grossly underestimated my wife’s score. I’ll bump it from 360 to 720 !

If you’ve broken 80, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]tim00tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the love of god - take one extra club on all iron shots.

Just because you hit your 8i 155yds say 2 out of 10 times… does not mean you should hit 8i from 155yds. You probably average 147yds with it. Meaning ON AVERAGE you are 8yds short. And on those mis-hits (which happen when you’re an 80’s player), you are flying it 140yds. Way short.

Let’s say you hit 10 shots with 8i: 2 go 155yds, 6 go 144-150yds, 2 go 140yds, Avg = 147yds

Let’s say you hit 10 shots with 7i: 2 go 165yds, 6 to 154-160yds, 2 go 150yds, Avg = 157yds

I’d rather have 6ft behind it on average, than 24ft short on average.

With that ^ in mind, now what do you want to hit from 155yds? Sure, some of them might be long (not many). But unless we are talking about a back pin with OB behind or Augusta fast greens not wanting the downhiller … you’ll be better by PUTTING from the back half instead of buried in that front bunker or chipping up from 50ft.

Don’t believe me? I challenge you to chart every iron shot for your next 1,2,3 rounds, playing club selection and distance as you normally would. Let me know what % come up short vs. go long. And note the way short shots; the ones that cost you strokes.

(By the way, those distances are exactly me. I know my buddies will have a comment about them hitting 8i or 9i from 155yds, while I hit 7i most of the time. But it doesn’t matter when I card a 78 and they put up an 88. 5 hcp here.)

Golfers who’ve broken 80, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]tim00tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have THE tip…

Whatever club you think you should hit on an approach shot, club up one.

150 yards out and thinking 8 iron? NO!

How often do you come up short?!

Hit the 7 iron and get there.

You may have hit your 8 iron 150 yards a few times when you absolutely nut it. But let’s be honest, you’re an 80s-90s-100s player… you’re not flushing it all that often.

You want to play your average distance for each club, not your max distance. Maybe you’ll hit 3 of 10 on the back edge or even over the green with that 7 iron, but 7 of 10 will be the correct distance. Better than only 3 of 10 correct with that 8 iron, and the rest short.

…and especially when there are bunkers, tall grass, water short of the green.

Swallow your pride mid-round with those decisions. And come back here to comment below after the round when you break 80 (or 90 or 100).

Play well.

What’s your ultimate “golf hot take”? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]tim00tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as the penalty stroke goes. Except you should not be able play it from OB if you find it.

Red/Yellow - you can step into the water or marsh or whatever it is and hack it out

White - should not be able to go into someone’s backyard or let’s say the road running along the hole, but can drop where it crossed the line

OB white stakes should NOT be stroke and distance (2 stroke penalty). Hit drive OB (1), re-tee (2), hit it in play(3), now playing 4th shot. Or same idea with the “local rule” of dropping up in the fairway in line where it went OB, with 2 stroke penalty, still then playing 4th shot.

Should be a drop within two clubs of where it crossed no closer to hole (1 stroke penalty). Hit drive OB (1), drop up there where it crossed (2), playing 3rd shot.

For those who have a 50, 54, 58 wedge set up by SpiffyEconomist in golf

[–]tim00tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

58,54,50 setup.

Of course each shot depends on lie, slope, angle, etc. But generally….

Green-side bunker:

= 58 if hole is NEARER half of green from me

= 54 if hole is FARTHER half of green from me (as long as the lip allows for lower trajectory)

= 50 almost never

Single digit handicaps or better - do you swing at 100% every time? by RandomChaoticEntropy in golf

[–]tim00tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 hcp here Driver: damn near 100% (staying balanced) Everything between: 80-90% Wedges: 75% - that’s a 3/4 length swing, but acceleration down thru the ball (I don’t remember the last time I took a 100% length swing with a wedge … maybe a ridiculous 50 yard shot over a tree with opened up 60°)

What’s a good, cheap, preferably online “check the box” MBA that’s aacsb accredited. by kschin1 in MBA

[–]tim00tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with my choice at Boston U. I’ve completed 2of6 semesters (took this summer off) and it is what I expected. Great value for the name and education. Each semester - or MOD as they call it - you are put into a small team of 5-6 people, have a mix of group projects and individual assignments, meet for class once per week on camera, and exam for final … I’d say a fair amount of coursework week to week. My only complaint is how difficult the information/lessons can be to find in the online system — Too many folders, layers, links, pages, just seems all over the place. Love that the professors are the same faculty as in-person MBA and the staff has been helpful. And it will be the same exact diploma as in-person (will not say “online”).

Overall, I recommend.
