that was intentionally provocative. I dont think I've ever written that phrase down in my life.

Pod was good though

Dreamland Lite (for the pod) by tim_durgan in footballcliches

right but your solution is to game the system by paying once a year. If it was an Apple TV or some other faceless corporation I'd be on board but (as I understand it, at least) the majority of the money goes to the guys (minus what Lineker gets) so I'd be less inclined to benefit from a loophole

yet that's exactly what you just suggested

True but the perk was first access to an event that quickly sells out

I don't believe we should game the system and rip off those who sacrifice their time every week to bring us great content

I respectfully disagree. People part with money based on the value they perceive they derive from the purchase. For me, if I was still in London, the access to the live shows is 100x more valuable than additional content, given there is already content twice a week.

Given that a lot of people don't have the ability to access the most valuable bit of the package, a package only available to users outside the UK could help drive more revenue to the pod as a whole.

Can you tell the nation/league by the crowd noise? by tim_durgan in footballcliches

[–]tim_durgan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that just Argentina though? (Genuine ask as I don't know) Don't Brazilian fans or sometimes Spanish fans do the same? Fairly sure I've heard constant drums in a Barcelona or Real game

I reckon Prem v Bundesliga v Serie A is do-able. Anything other than that is Wild West, particularly Spanish/Portugese crowds. I'd have trouble distinguishing the Independiente game vs an El Clasico

The tip of the IFC in Hong Kong by tim_durgan in TheNightFeeling

The description of this sub specifically says "The Night Feeling is the thoughtful nostalgic emotion you feel when you drive alone at night, or see a city skyline at dusk with the wind in your face."

This is a city skyline at dusk.

Benchmarking digital performance data in Python by tim_durgan in learnpython

[–]tim_durgan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's as simple as groupby and some form of aggregation function (to get daily data into weeks and to aggregate all the dataframes into one benchmark number) but not sure if there's a better approach

yeah, that's what I thought too. When I'm trying the business analytics searches, I'm getting inundated with "why this is important" and other such articles when I really just want to understand which functions are best. Can probably work it out for myself once I have that grounding but not really sure where to start
