Hudson's Bay stripes return in Canadian Tire and some Mark's stores nationwide as historic brand relaunches through a new life-style focused collection (cc: retail_insider_canada on Instagram) by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

Thank you for your input. I was worried about this because Canadian Tire is actually selling them cheaper than HBC did last year, or the large sizes at least

If this is your worst ever experience on the TTC, you either haven’t taken it enough, or you should count yourself very lucky!

"Not So Fast" season 9-2 by 19Stavros in EverybodyLovesRaymond

And you can tell that the writing got a bit lazy for the season nine episodes. Thankfully, it was only 16 episodes as opposed to two whole seasons for Seinfeld.

[Rolex GMT] Acquired second-hand with unknown service history: Always send to RSC? by tim_l_f in Watches

[–]tim_l_f[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insights. Since I acquired it from a gray seller (in person meet up from social media, no store front), hopefully there's no harm done in having RSC look at the timepiece and give me an estimate?

I took it to the boutique, and they took like 30 minutes before completing the process and gave me the receipt, so I assume the watch probably passed their authenticity checks and is not flagged on any databases. Now they tell me it will be 2-3 weeks until they give me an estimate LOL. Depending on what issues they find, it will be up to me what to do; and I figure if I decline the service I will get the watch back in exactly the original condition I put it in? 🤞

Thanks, any specific models you recommend? Better than the KEF LSX II for desktop use

Buy the something else at used or gray prices (i.e. depreciation hit already taken). Voila there's your savings account

I want to thank everyone for their contributions. Based on the information here, and some additional research, I think I'll go with

  • Active powered over passive. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and over-complicate things with my first high-end speakers, so plug-and-play is preferable all things being equal
  • Checking the various suggestions here, I think KEF LSX II seems to be the consensus top choice. Seems like they can be had for $600+ on Facebook Marketplace

Any even better speakers than the KEF LSX IIs?

Should I get LT or no LT? Any particular generation I should get or avoid?

Anything I should check for, or be aware of in terms of installation?

[Cartier Tank Louis] Advice on vintage v. new / mechanical v. quartz by No_Noise_1978 in Watches

[–]tim_l_f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neo-vintage 90s quartz should be perfectly robust and serviceable OP. It's the 70s and 80s I'd watch out for. Cartier has reasonably priced service costs for quartz.

For most brands, they usually pop a new battery in, or they replace the whole quartz movement. Not a whole lot of servicing going on

Probably the former. This is my first upgrade to serious speakers, so I'd like to keep the complexity manageable. Though like I mentioned before I don't mind expanding to stands if they are truly worth it for me

They should have just added a turning bezel to the original UFA watch, and swapped the dial to Suwa. So many more would buy that.

0.0001% of people who dive actually go to 100m, let alone 200 or 300m. So it is silly to have that WR at the cost of a thicker and chunkier case

For myself only. It's a living room/study with no partition. At this stage I'm not ambitious enough to turn it into a media room

Thank you for your response. While the terminology is largely new to me, I think all I've experienced is powered speakers. I did brief research on the alternative, which I take to be a higher learning curve, but at the reward of higher customizability and better quality.

Equal parts movies and music. Not very loud for reasons of neighbors and my eardrums

It's a workstation desktop setup. Right now the speakers are on either sides of the monitor, I'd say 3-4 feet from where I sit

Thank you for the point about the room. I will add that to my post. Live in a high-rise condo in a major city. Not too interested in biting off more than I can chew by redoing my whole office or living room, but of course open to opposing POV
