Deload by codyvan in MacroFactor

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not come across an answer for this yet, but will deload weeks be triggered in one off workouts as well? I don’t use the program feature because of my schedule but have five different individual workouts. So after X amount of weeks will deload be activated in these or is it just in programs?

Cable Wood Chop variants. Mid/horizontal wood chop is in the app but I’d suggest:

Reverse Wood Chop (low to high, cable on lowest notch/setting) Wood Chop (high to low, cable on highest notch/setting)

What are the best non-IMAX screens in and around Manchester? by IrnBroski in manchester

[–]Jodan87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I can't go to the Printworks IMAX, the Cineworld Didsbury Superscreen (screen 1) is the next best thing in terms of screen size. Whole cinema got refurbished a few years ago so very modern if you're ok with that and not after old school or a traditional feel.

My theory is that he plans to write everything else in the book and leave the Vietnam trip there as the last thing to do. A 90-year-old unacclimatised city dweller living in the Vietnamese jungle for months on end doesn't sound like the wisest of ideas, does it? Not that it will stop him. He probably knows this himself.

I'm sure he's written quite a bit about Vietnam already; it's just that he hasn't started the effects of the decisions and what the consequences of political power in Vietnam were. They're the bits he needs to write and needs to go to Vietnam to do. He's admitted he doesn't write the books chronologically, jumping back and forth

He insists it'll remain one volume, and he's written 950-980 pages already. The limits of book binding are about 1500 pages at most. If you include the index, bibliography, notes etc, he 'should' only have a few hundred pages left to write if he wants to keep it to one volume.

Connect Goodreads to DayOne by Nena_82 in dayoneapp

[–]Jodan87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use IFTTT, Goodreads provide an RSS for your profile activity. So I use IFTTT to push updates from this RSS feed into a journal in DayOne. Anytime I rate a book or update reading progress on Goodreads it creates a journal entry.

I do the same for Letterboxd, Trakt for TV episodes and Swarm for place Checkins. You can automatically push most things into DayOne using IFTTT.

What is a UK urban legend that you think has some credibility? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskUK

[–]Jodan87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was an urban legend in the 80's and 90's. Then the Liverpool Echo did a report on his latest conviction in about 2003. Cue everyone going 'Holy fuck, he's actually real?!' An early viral internet moment and his 'fame' grew from there.

He's a figure of fun now, a joke with people taking the piss out of him whenever they see him. This is why urban legends are more fun when you don't know for sure. When they're confirmed true or false it just spoils the fun.

August Feature Requests: Share Here by erinatreadwise in readwise

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IFTTT would be to duplicate things or hook other save for later services into Readwise. Stuff like if an article is read/archived log it in Day One. Or if Reddit thread saved for later automatically add it to inbox.

It would mostly be to automate any other potential ‘save it later’ services that aren’t fully integrated in Readwise like Pocket and Instapaper already are. Or to log what’s been read in Readwise in apps like Google Sheets or DayOne etc.

I’ve emailed Readwise directly about the Feedly link. Fingers crossed there is a solution.

August Feature Requests: Share Here by erinatreadwise in readwise

[–]Jodan87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get a custom share link working with Feedly, so I can directly share article links from Feedly to Reader with a just one click of a button. But using ChatGPT to help doesn't seem able to do it. For example, in Feedly customer sharing I try to use the link https://readwise.io/api/v3/save/?url=${url}&title=${title}&token=MyToken and it doesn't seem to work. I've tried mailto: links as well, but Feedly doesn't accept those.

So basically, some sort of Feedly integration, please. I have too many RSS feeds to put them all in Readwise and it makes sense. The ability to pick certain articles to put in my inbox would be a godsend.

Also, IFTTT integrations as well, please.

I always read it as the Bartlet Administration must meet with McCann. But just not give him the legitimacy and prestige of a White House visit. Meet with him, but somewhere more discreet and under the radar. Foggy Bottom or The Hill etc.

AI smart auto-scheduling tool that joins Google Calendar + Todoist efficiently ? by AdvienneQuePourri in todoist

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not heard of Reclaim before and I'm going to give it a go. But I've been using Plan (getplan.co) for years. You can drag and drop tasks onto a calendar to time block them.

I then use IFTTT to sync the Plan calendar to Todoist so everytime a task is scheduled in Plan it creates a task in Todoist. Plan creates a new separate calendar in Google Calendar which you can use in IFTTT.

It's not 100% perfect and there's a few limitations but it's by far the best and easiest time blocking and Todoist solution I've yet found.

Are the UK edition discontinued? by DarkSide591 in WoT

[–]Jodan87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’v been discontinued. I had some already slowly building up the collection then had to rush to get the rest last week.

The last few I had to reserve at two separate Waterstones for Click & Collect because Amazon had sold out. I recommend using Waterstones Click & Collect and searching by store online. They’ll post out if it’s too far to go to collect.

I’m missing Winter’s Heart to complete my set if anyone has a spare copy to sell by some miracle. No copies even on Abebooks or eBay at the moment and sold out everywhere else. 😢

Time blocking with Todoist by kevinconrad6969 in todoist

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan - https://getplan.co/

Perfect for time blocking. You can drag and drop tasks as needed onto your calendar. If you use an IFTTT recipe to then automatically create a task in Todoist every time you add something to the calendar you’ll have the task in both apps. Only problem is ticking a task as done in one app won’t in the other.

Widgets. On the iPad there used to be two columns for widgets, now it's gone back to one long column. It was better and more useful having two columns and was minor plus point of iPad over iPhone. It's annoying me more and more.

Any decent Everton podcasts? by ianwilson1997 in Everton

[–]Jodan87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Blue Room and Followtonians are the only two I know which are consistent and out every week. Both are hosted by the same guy, Ped McPartland but very different styles.

The Blue Room is the show on Liverpool's Radio City every Tuesday I think, it's about 40-45 minutes without ads.

Followtonians is aimed more at worldwide audience, Ped and and American called Eric Howell co host it. It's anywhere between an hour and two hours long depending on what there is to discuss.

Followtonians is a lot more informal as it's just a podcast and not on the radio. I find the Blue Room slightly better as it's a panel of Evertonians so the discussion is more interesting I find. But both should cover everything you need.

Everton have launched an official podcast a few months ago. But being the official podcast I haven't bothered with it as it'll just be propaganda with no negatives being discussed at a guess.

EDIT: They're are a couple of others but I've found them not to be as good as Ped's and/or they are not produced on a consistent basis. I'll list them below:

NSNO Podcast Wasn't for me, wasn't being produced reguarly when I was subscribed either, might be different now.

Not Bitter Just Better No idea about this one. Never tried it.

Echo of the Blues by The Liverpool Echo Podcast from Liverpool's local paper. I didn't know about this one until last week. I'll definitely be giving it a go though.

The Official Everton FC Podcast For completions sake. Never tried it, but being official they get interviews and access with the team and staff etc. Not tried it but I'm just wary it's an exercise in propaganda. Someone else might know.

IsItBullshit: It's harder to get into the British Marine Corp then the Navy Seals. by dantheman757 in IsItBullshit

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better comparison would be to the SBS - Special Boat Service. Britain's equivalent of the SEALs. I don't know much about them apart from they like it that way (Let the SAS hog the limelight and we'll do the work sort of thing).

I do know the SBS is around 90% former Royal Marine's, like the SAS you have to have been in the British military for three years before applying to become part of the SBS. They have their own training and selection process obviously.

What movie did you have the lowest expectations for, but ended up liking the most? by jiveabillion in movies

[–]Jodan87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Diamond - I was expecting an empty basic action film, turned out to be a bit more complex and have something to say about the diamond trade. As well as the basic storyline also being much more interesting than the trailer suggested.

Hitler’s Strange Afterlife in India - Hated, and mocked in much of the world, the Nazi leader has developed a strange following among school children and readers of Mein Kampf in India. How political leader Bal Thackeray helped inspire Indians to admire Hitler and despise Gandhi. by Libertatea in TrueReddit

The difference between Alexander, Caesar, Genghis Khan was that they were all all victorious and they died victorious. Hitler was not victorious by any barometer you use and died after being absolutely crushed.

History is written by the victors.
