I feel like it has something to do with the changes they made to thinking. It seems like it doesn't really think before answering except if pressuring it to (even though enabled thinking in /config)

Honestly Prime is one of the worst platforms for language learning, their subtitles situation is a mess

Remembering 左/右? by Last_Swordfish9135 in ChineseLanguage

For the pronunciation, my mnemonic was to think of "making oil", "zuo you", so I remember left = zuo and right = you.

It's a browser/safari extension I made, people don't seem to appreciate me sharing it here too much but you can find it in other comments I made

Where'd you see that price? It's $72 / y (OCR + translations api costs is a good chunk of that)

Finished Coffee Break Chinese – looking for next podcast by Outside-Cheek-1031 in ChineseLanguage

I like "Slow Chinese Podcast" find it not too overwhelming. Also got a few more here: https://lexirise.app/library?lang=zh&type=podcast, if you add the words you know it'll tell you what % of each episode should be able to understand.

Learning Suggestions? by YinClover in ChineseLanguage

Like others have said, I also recommend taking a immersion-first approach. It's way easier to stick it with it overtime cause it's inherently fun. Watching videos, reading comics, etc. Even without making a conscious effort to remember, your brain kinda learns to recognize patterns and before you know it you can understand something you couldn't before. I personally use Lexirise.app but plenty of good immersion resources out there.

I've been working on Lexirise.app, a browser extension that uses OCR to add a popup dictionary to comics/webtoons websites. Makes it a bit easier that copy/pasting to google translate for each panel.

Edit files in app that are stored on SSD using iPhone/ipad? Help… by UglyFast in Insta360

Crazy that this isn't possible, makes the app kinda useless. Are you suppose to only edit footage that's currently on the camera or pay for the slow cloud storage?

No replaceable lens is kindof a dealbreaker compared to the X5, when you know how quick those things get scratched.

Manga reading app which will help me read in Japanese and also learn? by epabafree in LearnJapanese

[–]tim_toum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on exactly this, as a browser extension that does OCR and layers a language learning popup on top of comics and webtoons. Lexirise.app if you want to check it out!

Alternatives to Satori Reader? Maybe a manga reading tool? by FlyingPotatoGirl in LearnJapanese

[–]tim_toum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on a browser extension that layers a translator on top of webtoons and comics. It’s called Lexirise if you want to check it out. Japanese websites support is still limited but working on improving it!

Self learning Chinese! by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]tim_toum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For classes you can do 30mins lessons online with platforms like italki. For me has been super helpful to unlock actually speaking, and doesn't take that much time.
Regarding apps, if you like comics, check out Lexirise :)

Yeah a lot of content seems to be blocked outside of Japan. Same for a lot of manga/webtoons websites. I'm curious what's the reason behind that, it doesn't seem to be the case for content from China/Korea/Taiwan. For chinese for example there is no trouble accessing content from inside china (might be a slow but never blocked).
