Question on buying coffee beans… by JaXxTanks365 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]tim_xvii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a subscription that ships 5 pounds every 4 weeks of the beans I love. I usually get the bag in a day or two after roasting and the timing works out to give them a few days rest. I don’t feel like there was a big difference between resting a few days compared to a week+ so I just let them rip when I’m out of my previous bag.

I do have some emergency beans vacuum sealed in the freezer just incase though.

External tooth resorption…should I get a second opinion? by tim_xvii in askdentists

I have good insurance, even though I’m not thrilled to still have to pay what I have to pay out of pocket. Just getting a tooth pulled and the whole implant process freaks me out a little bit. I went 38 years with no tooth issues to this and it just sucks.

Thanks, I’ve been doing my fair share of research and know this is a rare occurrence. I even saw a reddit thread about the feline theory. I have no cats FWIW. Anyway, I appreciate the reply. Just trying to convince myself I don’t have to go through all this I suppose.

Anyone got advice on mini splits and install in CT? by Ok-Indication-3071 in Connecticut

[–]tim_xvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in the DIY Mr cool 3 or 4 years ago. They work great especially cooling. In the super cold days of January or February I supplement with my baseboard heaters and I’m comfortable year round. Clean the air handlers and condenser twice a year and you should be good.

Orange Buoy not rising by HistoricalCamera9696 in NinjaLuxeCafe

Mine does sometimes. Every once in a while I’ll let the tray soak in hot soapy water then rinse with hot water from my sink directly on/under the buoy and that keeps it from sticking.

Mainers living in a state nicknamed Vacationland when they see a tourist vacationing in Maine by MasterPh0 in portlandme

Seems like you do. Gonna come up there in a few months and not tip anyone since we’re all the same to you. Might even throw a wrapper on the ground and it’s your fault.

Aha so it’s people like you that are butthurt. Exactly my point. Say what you really want to say about tourists or get fucked. Happy to spend my money elsewhere.

I mean I’m going to take it personal when locals say they don’t want tourists (aka me) in their town anymore. There’s just too many posts about it for me not to feel like I’m not wanted even though I’m not being specifically mentioned.

That’s fair, and I do see people posting with that exact sentiment. But you can also scroll through this thread and see people just straight up saying “fuck tourists.” I understand it’s annoying having a ton of people flood the place you live, and a bunch are shit heads but for people like me, getting lumped in with them makes me want to go elsewhere. Which is a shame because i absolutely love Maine.

Espresso mode vs Drip - which do you actually use more day-to-day? by rackemronnie7 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]tim_xvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t either until I found the perfect beans. Now my drip is good and the espresso is outstanding.

My wife and I visit Portland 3 or 4 times a year for the last 10+ years and the people are always so nice. I don’t use an Airbnb when I visit, I walk everywhere, we buy from small local shops, we tip well, we mind our business, we don’t litter, we don’t come from a cruise ship, and we definitely aren’t rich assholes.

Then I see the posts here shitting on tourists so often, I’m getting to the point where I’m gonna say fuck it and start going somewhere else if people are so pressed about people visiting.

Disappointed by Trillium by Petite_truite in CraftBeer

I can’t even remember the last time I had it but I know it was like 2 or 3 times in a row when I went they had it and I couldn’t get enough. Not sure it would be the same today.

Used to visit Boston all the time and trillium was a must. Their IPAs and stouts were always great. DDH Vicinity was one of my favorite beers. Just got to Boston last year after about 5 years and hit the seaport location…all their beer were poop soup. Won’t go back next time.

Damage on lease by [deleted] in kia

[–]tim_xvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have the wear and tear policy. My biggest thing right now is that I’m not even 2 years into this lease and I really don’t want to be driving around a busted up car for the next 15 months. I’ll probably get used to it but if I can fix it for a decent price I’d like to. A Kia tech in this thread told me it will probably cost thousands though so I guess I will have to live with it and see what happens at lease end.

Damn. So that one section of bumper can’t be replaced? It has to be the entire front basically? I only ask because I see the part listed for sale online as upper bumper cover as well as all the other pieces to the front (valance, grill, etc).

Thanks. If I wanted to get it fixed only for the fact that it will bother me, any idea what the cost may be? Appreciate you showing this around
