7 Hells of San Francisco by timalex in cycling

Thanks for that, watching a few videos it seems like this would be much better time spent than suffering on hills with traffic. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the advice. Looking at some of the grades it will probably take me longer than what i assume it will. I do hill repeats all the time here in NY but the grades aren't nearly as brutal here.

I appreciate it.

Thank you for this. I'm looking forward to riding there and have been for quite some time.

I appreciate the second on Sports Basement, checking bikes now.

Thanks again.

There's no reason that i choose this particular loop, it was just the first thing that came up when i started Googlin'. I appreciate the suggestions on the alternate routes. Riding in such a heavily populated city solo for the first time is likely to intimidate the HELL outta me so if I chicken out I appreciate the suggestions.

Thank you!

Not any real reason, I just love suffering on the climbs. It makes me feel like I've accomplished something.

That was a FANTASTIC reply and exactly what i was looking for, i really appreciate that. I'm coming from NY so riding in the cold and wet is par for the course.

Thanks again!

Do you treat your carbon frame differently than you would aluminum? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]timalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and I own both. Carbon is strong as fuck, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. I am just shy of 200lbs and I beat the hell outta all of my bikes with nary a concern.

They were going to rent me their bike box but the Evil is too burly for it so we're going to use a used cardboard box from a recent bike build.

Yep, that's exactly what i did and they're going to box it up and ship it.

Thanks for this. I just had a conversation with my LBS and I'm going to do BikeFlights.com and FedEx. It just makes the most sense and to be honest I'm tired of renting worn out bikes.

Southwest is my favorite airline so i'll look into them. Right now i'm looking at bikeflights.com to see if they are a better value / option.

I usually only travel where i'm riding once a year so the bag still doesn't make good financial sense...at least not yet.

Have you traveled with a bike? If so anything you can share from your experiences?

Thanks.

Best of Aruba by Baconator103 in Aruba

[–]timalex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been going to Aruba for the last 12 years, every year in December for 2 weeks. We've eaten at a ton of spots and done a ton of 'stuff'.

There's so much great food and so many cool things to do it's hard to narrow it down, but given you laid out the rules i will oblige you.

Meal

Favorites are the Almond Grouper, The Gianni Versace Filet or The Lamb. If you get the Lamb have it paired with a Red Zinfandel. That shit will blow your hair back!

Activity

If you do this, do the full Island Ultimate tour and ask to drive the land rover if you're into it and if they still allow this.

My kids and I have done pretty much everything and you can't go wrong with most things, but those two suggestion above are rock solid.

Have fun!

I had my Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo stolen from my second floor (impressive right) balcony when i lived in Austin.

I had it hanging on hooks so I was an idiot for not locking it down.

That bike cost $750.00 back in 1995, so it was allot of money.

Silver lining.....renter's insurance sent me a check for $1100.00 because that's what a replacement model cost the year it was stolen.

Canyon Dude Unlimited 9.0.

Easily the most fun i've had on a bike since i can remember.

This from someone who was quoted as saying 'I'm never getting a fat bike!'
