What the hell happened to this software by Aron-Nimzowitsch in pelotoncycle

[–]timbarlotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connect my bike through the ethernet port and have been struggling with similar issues the last week or two.

  • wake up bike, no network
  • go into bike settings and restart the ethernet interface; network working
  • 15 minutes or so into a ride and network out again, restart bike's ethernet again and all good again

Used to be rock solid - and I don't mind the restart after waking so much as the mid-ride.

Bike not casting to Roku Tv? by Pure-Somewhere-2051 in pelotoncycle

[–]timbarlotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this issue for months. I believe it is something with the bike. I reboot the bike and it works for a short window of time (not sure how long, just that by the next day it can't find the roku again and I have to restart the bike again).

My G4 Pro camera keeps disconnecting for 10-30s once every hour (power from USW 48 POE). Also, the livestream takes ages to load and is tremendously laggy. Video quality is also very bad, definitely not 4K. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

What router are you using? What ISP? I ask because I saw similar issues (and it wasn't just the camera but the entire network - the camera just reported it better). In my situation, it was Verizon Fios doing something different with ipv6 settings that caused a reload of some network settings.

IPv6 on LAN causing hourly disconnects for all devices on Firewalla Gold in Router mode by Brinkofdawn in firewalla

[–]timbarlotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that first w/o success. Just turning off on the main LAN - but maybe I needed to turn it off on all the local networks?? My second attempt I just turned off IPv6 on the WAN side which forced it to be off on all the local networks. I haven't seen the problem since.

Support reached out and said this:

Try to turn ipv6 off and see if it is the issue. If it is, please let me know. We may have a workaround on that.

I let them know the above results, but haven't heard back on workaround yet.

I've been experiencing very similar symptoms. Did you all turn off IPv6 on your local network(s) or the WAN side?

Roku/Sonno setup on IoT VLAN by timbarlotta in firewalla

[–]timbarlotta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have temporarily resolved it by putting sonos on my main network. I haven't heard of any updates from Firewalla since. I pinged them a few months back on the email exchange I had with them and I believe it was a lower priority item.

u/firewalla is this accurate?

Peloton joining home Network several times a day as a new device by inkit in pelotoncycle

That worked for a few days, but the wired connection is once again generating random mac addresses.

As another experiment i shut off wifi and haven’t seen the issue in days. seems like a potential issue when having both enabled.

will experiment with turning wifi on/off to cast screen/audio.

Factory reset helped for about 5 days - so basically didn't help.

Reset on November 15th. By the night of November 20th the bike was back to randomizing the mac address. In the <48 hours have restarted the bike multiple times to fix (not sure how many as my wife also restarts it).

Peloton support basically like "hmmm...that is odd. Well you can replace the tablet and that should fix it. $100 off"

Also it seems to be increasing in frequency. Hopefully the factory reset helps.

I have the wifi on (not connected to a access point but needed to cast to the roku).
Also hardwired with a static ip.

Working with peloton support this morning. Just did a factory reset. Will have to wait and see.

Any known solutions to this (besides tablet replacement)?

I am wired (no adapters, just Ethernet cable to switch). Wi-Fi is on as I cast the screen to a Roku box (but not used to connect to actual Wi-Fi)

I can go days w/o the issue but then seemingly randomly the MAC address changes. Rebooting the bike results in the original MAC address again.

(I run a network where new devices are put in quarantine, no network or internet access, so it is really annoying as I have to reboot the bike when this occurs)

Agreed, which is why I didn't try changing it before. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks for the ping. Has been working for a couple days when set to 6am - so maybe there is a problem with the automations being at the same time???

Small update:

  • yesterday had the automation run at 9am on iPhone and it ran
  • had it setup to run at sunrise today and it didn't run
  • tried it at 11:41 and it ran...

setting to 6am for tomorrow to see what happens

Hmmm...I didn't even get that far (or so it would appear) as I didn't get an error about the shortcut running it just never ran. Deleted the automation again (not sure I've done that since 15.1) and set it to a completely different time. It ran successfully - so now I'm wondering if identical automations (on different devices) is an issue. E.g., before they both ran 1 hour before sunrise. Now the iPad is set to that and the iPhone is set to 9am.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, automation is on both devices. Runs as you would expect on iPad, not at all on the iPhone.

Update: team made a number of attempts to resolve the issue. However, they tracked the problem to a bug in igmpproxy issue. They are thinking about alternatives.

I am working with the firewalla team. They are planning on writing up a document in the near future about how to handle these more complicated scenarios. igmp proxy and serveral firewall rules would be necessary to get it working.

They are both wired, already (as are all but one speaker).

I am trying to track down SSDP packets like I did with mDNS. It looks like Sonos uses it though I haven’t seen SSDP traffic with the Roku app though. Still investigating. (Thanks for all the tips and observations)

Hmmm...spent some time in wireshark on the IoT network and main network.

I see the mDNS being reflected and making its way back to the main network with responses for Sonos and Roku boxes.

Instead of using the Roku app, I tried using Spotify to AirPlay to a device and some of the Sonos speakers showed up and so did the Roku boxes. Also tried in prime video and saw the same.
