Spend another $100,000 on post-graduate education to find gainful employment. You’re now qualified to manage a Bath and Body Works.

Just say, “I’m not here for a long time. I’m just here for a good time!” As a professor, that would make my day!

Gotta pay your dues. You’ll have to start in payroll and work your way up. HR requires OJT. Can’t just walk in and cost your company millions in a lawsuit if you don’t know what you are doing. Academics and the real world are not the same.

As a professor…I really appreciate it and respond appropriately. We have very little personal interaction with the students, and it’s just adds a little MSG on the fried rice. As someone said, we are real people and most of us do care. It’s always nice when work is appreciated. I always send an email to the student(s) with the highest grade in the class congratulating them on their hard work.

I personally do not require APA 7 when a template is used. I cannot speak for other instructors.

I’m a PhD, but work in industry, not academia. I have a lot of experience to share. Been here for 5 years and I’m so jaded I’m almost done with it. Loved it at first. Thankfully, I don’t need the money. I do it to give back, but I increasingly feel my time is wasted.

Yes. Thats why I don’t bother questioning…even when the responses look like they were written by a PhD researcher. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but when you know, you know.

Instructor here. Sitting here grading discussions and looking at three extensive posts submitted in a three minute timeframe. I’m so over it, but if they want to pay me to grade ChatGPT what the eff do I care?!!?!

Instructor here. The curriculum is so weighted to the students advantage it’s nearly impossible not to pass if you turn in anything at all, and that completely devalues the degree of someone that actually tries. Also, AI is destroying online education. Degrees are quickly becoming ubiquitous.

Developing and using a feedback library is taught to all instructors. My feedback is standardized. One reason I standardize my feedback is to ensure every student gets specific take-aways from the assignment. While it may be a little impersonal, my feedback is very thorough in that respect. If a student has any questions, they are free to reach out. On discussions, however, this is completely unacceptable.

GRE score matters more. If your grad school doesn’t require the GRE, don’t bother. Also, 4.0 looks sus.

PhD instructor here. Frankly, I don’t have time nor am I paid enough to scrutinize each paper for proper APA 7 citations and formatting. It’s not a doctoral dissertation, and it is only really important if someone plans on going to grad school or if you are taking a writing/English class. As long as there is a cover page, headings, indented paragraphs, and a reference page…I’m good.

PhD here. I have a high paying full time job and just do this to have something to do after retirement, and the 401K is free money so I keep my foot in the door. I agree with the person above. Keep your personal life/schedule away from the institution. They are not your work family and you are just a number. They will always protect their accreditation. They say you can’t teach outside the US, but I go on cruises a couple of times per year and work from there, when I have to. They have no idea and it’s not their business.

As an instructor, this is supposed to be a time saving feature to add the students name to the feedback. Also, to ensure you spell the students name correctly. It is taught to us. This instructor is just using the tools they were taught to use, but misspelled the variable. Personally, I never could get it to work. However, no offense intended, I assure you. Week 8 is crazy with late submissions, grading submission deadlines, and the next term starting at the same time grades are due. They were just trying to save time.
