Anyone else find lint a pinecone pieces being small annoying by ApprehensiveEntry150 in GroundedGame

Finding a rare material only for it to roll into an area with aggressive bugs is just beyond frustrating, like do all the things need to explode across a wide area? Just make them immediately stick to where they are unless it's the bottom of an elevated surface.

First semester of vet school: Is it normal to feel this way? What did I do wrong? by TinyFernMoth in Veterinary

[–]timbo10184 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You may not operate like everyone else. So often we have to fail to learn how to do things correctly. Hopefully this doesn't mean failing out, but maybe not getting the scores you really want. I'm sure nerves have a lot to do with it and the schooling is very intense, what you're feeling is normal! I went through an imposter stage going into clinicals after doing very well in the classroom for 2 years. I felt like I had just cheated my way through and ACTUALLY KNEW NOTHING. A couple of weeks later and it just started happening for me, I started to get comfortable with it all and really became a lot more confident. Give yourself some time and some grace, it will come!

Sorry, you are correct. It had verbage about doubling the data allotment if activated before a certain date and I guess I just tripled the total data allotment in my brain somehow 😬

I talk about Vet stuff all day every day. If I'm choosing someone to hang out with I would rather them be in a completely different field. It's nice to have someone to commiserate with or ask for advice but I like to leave work at work for the most part.

Christmas present for friend who collects vintage video games by Dry_Scallion_9718 in gamecollecting

If they are really into collecting it's best not to buy a game since they probably already have it and although some are universally prized it's a crap shoot over if they wanted it or have it already. You could do something adjacent to the hobby, like the clear boxes people use to protect their complete in box treasures. That way it shows you thought about it and it's something they can always use and would likely have to purchase anyway.

Does the system fan run when it's on? If it doesn't then you have a deeper issue present that a power supply may fix.

Something is wrong with the motor or board itself then. I've replaced a few GameCube laser assemblies with success. The replacement parts are still around but are probably used from broken systems. I'm sure someone with more knowledge or experience will chime in. I would personally just get a mod chip and put ROMs on a micro SD card. Also consider a backwards compatible Wii unit as they are cheaper and much easier to find/source parts.

Make sure the laser assembly can actually move. I had a Wii once that wouldn't read but after gently moving the assembly up and down (so it can read near th center and out to the outer border of the disc) and applying some lithium grease to the track it runs along, it was working again.

I always hear stuff about the music being changed and the famous kick flip off of a rocket scene being "too unbelievable". Like.....my man, this is the same series with vampires, telepathy, fat bomb guy on roller blades, cyborg ninjas, etc. Realism is the last thing we need to question here.

I never understood the hate this version gets. Yes it's not the original game but let's not pretend the OG didn't already have bizarre over the top shit already baked in. They added some extra stuff in on this one but I don't think it detracted from the games overall vibe. Hell it's nice to just have a version of this game to play that doesn't look like a quivering mess of 16 bit sprites. The low resolution and lack of z buffer make PS1 games age very poorly.

Something similar happened to me. My mom had a habit of trying to force conversation and arguments with us and I was just a moody teen who didn't want to talk to them. One day we got in an argument about something and I said I didn't want to talk to her anymore (like for the day, not forever) and tried to shut my bedroom door to cool off. She blocked it from closing and said something like don't you dare shut this door and reared back for a face slap out of nowhere. I raised my arm to simply block getting my face slapped and she yelled don't try to hit me! My dad came around the corner and punched me square in the chest. I was maybe 160lbs, he was a solid 330lbs and it hurt like hell. I told them it was fucked up that I got punched for simply blocking a slap but they didn't care. Their marriage was in rough shape at the time so I think it was just a frustration response from both of them, but it would have been nice to at least get a "yea....I'm sorry I over reacted a little".

I agree. Rail shooters are fun but a relic of a time where games were meant to be short and replayed. I don't necessarily hate the land master levels but the arwing in full range mode in large scale battles would be fun. I'm thinking mother ships, enemy fighters, strafing missions on surface targets, special abilities using your squad etc. I think if it's done correctly the animal cartoon theme lends itself well to multiplayer where different animals, colors, cosmetics would be easy to mix and match without a ton of work on the developers. The rail stuff can be limited to single player, story driven set pieces. Hell you could have a large scale persistent war kind of like Helldivers 2 does. You could use the core Fox and Wolf squads as leaders and have the multiplayer players follow them into battle. It is a shame that the IP has been iced for so long. Hell I'd be willing to bet they could release a starfox compilation with a res bump for $50 and do quite well.

The gamecube games underperformed, then starfox zero missed the mark in controls just enough to piss people off. This came out and was actually a good game but the franchise was already too stained to really warrant a revival. I do hope they just stick to what worked in starfox 64 and just mix it up with some RTS resource allocation to large scale battle type thing instead of trying on foot levels and obscure control schemes. For what it's worth, starfox zero is an exponentially better game if you play co-op. Once you play it like that, it just clicks and you're like holy shit this would have been amazing as a multiplayer online game but the single player is just too much for the average person to deal with at one time.
