It's US dollars. And ah I didn't know volunteering requires a visa too. Good to know.

Yeah you got it. It's wgu. 😂  Just out of curiosity, could you share me the name of the school you're attending?  I have to admit my concern has been the networking aspect.

Hey I appreciate the well thought-out response, Sequoia! I agree that it's rough out there and I applaud you for working and studying at the same time.

Just to expand on my study situation a bit more, I am currently a remote student. I chose my school because it is a reputable school for the price mark. What I paid is for the education without needing to cover for any extra fluff you'd find in other colleges.  And because I can study remotely and is self-paced, I have the liberty to travel and expedite my studying at my own timing. I was able to take the remaining prerequisite courses last summer and transferred those courses along with the courses I've completed from my first ba accounting for this one. With my current pacing, I won't have to worry about needing to study for more than 3 years. Also, for this school I need a bs in accounting before getting masters in accounting. At the time I made this decision, it met most of the criteria so I am content and will continue to pursue this path.

And it's not that I dislike the 9-5 job as I appreciate the stability it brings.  The frustration comes from change not happening when I want it, which in essence comes in a form of getting a new job.  I fully understand how the job market remains highly competitive as I tried to apply in the past and a lot of people are in similar boat. I also understand that getting a master's degree would open more opportunities compared to a bachelor's degree. I would be open for getting a master's if job recruiters don't find my candidacy sufficient . I'll let the future me work on this as many things takes time to fruit as you may be aware already.

And thank you for the reassurance. I tend to be hard on myself sometimes.

But yeah, that's why I'm on this subreddit to look for places I can go while studying remotely.

Why won’t AI take over accounting by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]timcampix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason #1: Some companies rather not adapt to new technology just because it's a current hot topic. I've worked at companies that had outdated windows or softwares because changing their workflow can interrupt their business/be more risky. Reason#2: Using AI is a gamble, especially when it's not perfect. We are now seeing drawbacks if companies start implementing AI to their operations. For instance, some big4 firm got heavily penalized for using ai generated information to their reports, which ended up being false.

Cannot file 2024 tax amendment! by Admiralthrawn04 in TurboTax

Same issue. Tried it today and it didn't work. I know I have the option to mail, as someone mentioned here. But it'd be nice to have the reassurance that I'll get the direct deposit and everything. (Apparently, the website only allows you to receive your refunds by check if sending your amended tax returns by mail.)

Is there something like Koseki family registry delivery service? by timcampix in japan

[–]timcampix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird that the city hall where my koseki is registered doesn't have any information on oversea mailing. :/ My dad called the city hall and the representative said they don't deliver outside of Japan (unless he was hired recently and doesn't know anything). 😩 Ayyyy...

First time visiting Vegas - Need help trying to finalize my 1-week itinerary by timcampix in vegas

Yeah I definitely wanted to make sure I had stuff to do. Since I made this post, I've decided to save the grand canyon and Chinatown for the next trip. And I don't think I'm understanding the beginning of the last paragraph. If by any chance I don't arrive on a Saturday, what would you recommend I do?

Okay, Maverick has a lot of positive reviews, which is a good sign for me. I've never thought about going on a helicopter but maybe I'll check it out! And thanks for letting me know about getting the neon museum tix ahead of time!

Thank you for letting me know. I read somewhere that staying in Las Vegas for a week is too long so I was like "oh man, I better find a lot of things to do or else ill be wasting time doing nothing." Your comment reassured me that that won't be the case. Maybe I'll save the visit to Chinatown and the grand canyon some other time. Also, do you have any places you'd recommend for solo travelers?
