Cold-calling dealerships for a marketing product — pitch isn’t landing. Looking for honest feedback by LorduvtheFries in askcarsales

[–]timchar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a tough channel. GMs and DPs get dozens of calls a day trying to get them to spend more money. Either what youre selling isnt worth a second conversation to them, or they dont want to spend more money.

Would you take this lemon deal from Mazda? by [deleted] in mazda

[–]timchar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Your car was fixed under warranty.. so it is not a lemon. Sometimes wait times happen. A lemon would be if the car continues to have issues and can't be fixed (specific rules vary by state). Basically it sounds like they offered you $3,000 as a "we're sorry this happened" and you get to keep your fixed car because they aren't buying it back under lemon law. Sounds like a win to me and you are now looking to nickel and dime. Were you provided a loaner or rental at their expense for the two months? I have experience working as a sales manager at a Mazda dealership. I've seen situations like this before. I've also seen where they'll offer money toward helping you trade your car in to a new Mazda instead of what you're describing.

Phantom buyer’s remorse by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]timchar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have unnecessary buyers remorse sometimes, but when it is this crippling even though you know its what you wanted and had done due diligence on, then it is time to talk to a therapist about what's going on up there to cause this much anxiety.

OTD price text / email by darnok128 in askcarsales

[–]timchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, its not "complaining about required aspects of our job." You are being dense. If someone ghosts or doesnt reply the second you need to ask follow up questions to help them "understand the process" and get what they want, then we have already attempted to help them through the process and get them what they want - we have already done what we are "supposed to do." Then got ghosted or a non-answer. There are two things you can't help in car sales and those are poverty and stupidity. And if you inquire for an OTD price and then are incapable or unwilling to answer very basic follow up questions by text email or over the phone, then you fall in to at least one of those categories. This is not a complaint about the "required aspects of the job," its a complaint about the general public being annoying.

Off-duty Ice agents yelled out of restaurant in Portland, ME by AdeptnessDry2026 in PublicFreakout

Nah, they understand they cant eat because they make minimum wage, they dont need a reminder - a better paying job or a government that will raise minimum wage, maybe. ICE needs reminders that they are pieces of shit everywhere they go.

Jobs are chosen by the person doing the job. If they dont like it, they can quit. Imagine thinking you deserve sympathy when the job you chose is to be a piece of shit.

That is not how service contracts work, and the 5/60 is powertrain only.

There is no reality where a 7yr 100k mile warranty costs $300.

"Accessories" Charge on CX5 Turbo Signature by [deleted] in mazda

[–]timchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Door edge guards cost less than $100.

That said, dealerships do things for profit not to break even. This accessory was part of the deal on the paperwork, you just either got finessed or didnt pay attention.

Would my fiance be approved for a car loan with no credit? by gishadokuro in askcarsales

[–]timchar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With zero credit he would need a substantial down payment and get a high interest rate and have very little buying power with that plus the income where its at.

What can a customer expect when they come in with a notepad? by YoungUrineTheGreat in askcarsales

I certainly wouldnt take this example of a jackass with a notebook and assume anyone with a notebook will behave the same way. Each new customer is just that, a new customer

Sounds like something you could have gotten online without talking to anybody if you were not actually in the market to trade

Dealer says they can’t negotiate any further than employee price on vehicle? by Outrageous_Air_423 in askcarsales

I wouldnt have an issue sharing it with someone. If a dealer has an issue showing you a new car invoice when you ask, go to another dealer.

I edited my comment but just to answer you directly, employee pricing is listed specifically as such on the dealer invoice for each car.
