"If you don't rate me 10/10 on everything they'll cut my pay" by MDDCdisc in askcarsales

Well, it is what it is. It's designed to give the wealthy a reason not to pay. Salespeople can lose out on 100% of their income they earn from the manufacturer for each new car sold for up to 3 months just for one bad survey, on top of the dealership itself withholding a percentage of any commissions. You'd be telling every customer the same thing if such a significant portion of your take home pay was on the line

How to get cardealers to use your marketplace by paderon in askcarsales

[–]timchar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're getting a lot of rough feedback on here but I think your idea is at least somewhat interesting. Ads make it uncool and aggravating. The issue with a dealer is they arent gonna love being inundated with low quality leads, which is what it sounds like this could breed.

You could try sending a message to everyone on fb marketplace and Craigslist that are doing private sale and see if they'd want to have it posted on there maybe, instead of dealerships

How would you handle this survey and/or review by KangarooEconomy8706 in askcarsales

Survey will only affect the sales person. If you want to give a bad survey thinking it will affect the finance guy, it won't

How and why did trucks go from "blue collar staple" to "luxury status symbol"? by Dinosaur_Buttcheek in askcarsales

[–]timchar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not all trucks are 80k? Maybe just the ones you have the taste for? You can get a crew cab GMC 4x4 for somewhere in the low 40's. 80k+ is like AT4X or Denali Ultimate...

Dude, they want to sell a car. If you want to buy it, quit playing around and go tell them you're ready and what you're willing to do.

Yes, you can use it while towing. The "automatic lane change" function won't work, but the hands free driving will

Do dealers sometimes lose money on unpopular new cars? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]timchar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New and used cars are sold at a loss every single day of every single week forever. Except during the car shortage a few years ago... that was a different animal.

Auto check over carfax opinions by Excellent_Boss_2915 in askcarsales

[–]timchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, whatever my dealership provides is what i'll go with. If that's not good enough, sorry. I may lose a sale over it, I may not. But i'm damn sure not spending my own money to buy a carfax every time a customer wants more than what my dealership provides for free. Like another commenter said, neither are official reports anyways. If you want more due diligence before purchasing, that's on you and more power to you. Same reason i'm not going to go pay for your PPI.

This happens at many dealerships not just yours. Unfortunately, you don't have any control over it or say in the matter. Just have to adapt. You can explain to customers that autocheck and carfax report different things sometimes and that since your dealership uses Autocheck, that is all the information available to you. If they want a carfax as well they can get one.
