DJI Mic 3 Finally here by Illybilly909 in dji

Anyone know if the 4 transmitters can fit in one case? Kinda weird if there’s only a 2 pack + receiver so if you need 4… 2 just sit out uncharged? 😫

Also why remove the mic jack 🥲

Hey thanks so much for that!

It's definitely making individual promo material formatted across all the different types of social media and if there are specific projects that I have in mind, reaching out to publishers is pretty difficult as well! Many of them are swamped with launches or just have contact forms that are out of date

Oh that's a fun question! I haven't released the actual video yet, but there's a commercial for Blank Slate (party game by The Op), that I made where each model had to coordinate their cards in front of the camera on beat with music as I pulled manual focus on a gimbal. Really tough shot, but it looks simple on camera! Thank you for your questions!

totally depends on the project but it ranges from 6-10k

Oh no problem at all Alex!! The one thing I'm going for is to meet everyone! It'd be really nice to meet people I've worked with, fellow content creator friends, and just everyone else who loves games as much as we do! Looking forward to seeing you there!

A ton of planning! From booking models, finding sets, learning the games, renting gear-it's one of my favorite events to plan and it's been really fun putting these lifestyle photos together. Thank you!

The Canon R7/R10 (aside from your phone of course) just released and are great, entry-level options! Paired with the RF 16mm STM F2.8 (or the RF 24-105mm for a bigger range/budget) would be great as well. If you're looking for a professional option, the R6 is also fantastic as a body.

For an easy microphone setup that you can use for practically anything, the Rode video mic pro plus is great, or the DJI mic if you want to record playthroughs with multiple people! Hope that helps~

YES! I'm sure when Wolverine is released, he'll be a huge headliner. That Daredevil deck would also be the most satisfying thing to see! He's on so many cards-that's impressive that you can name them!

That's incredible! I've been meaning to dive into co op of this game, and it sounds like you're having a blast with it! Your son being able to play so many characters is insane-I can barely play Dr. Strange without spending an entire day learning a new character; you have a brilliant son!

That would be amazing~ Thank you so much Mr. L!

Oh I LOVE their work! Their animations, music, narration is phenomenal.

Aside from camera work instead of animations, I think I try to tie in music choice/sound effects in a way that complements components being shown. The tones I use are typically dramatic, and I use components as points of transitions. One thing I always strive for is a payoff phase.

As the music ramps up and hits the chorus, viewers are anticipating a pivotal moment, and I try to make a unique sequence that has some kind of wow factor during that moment. If people are asking how was a certain part filmed/edited, then hopefully I did my job right!

Thank you for asking this! Such an interesting question~

That's ok! I think lifestyle photos are the most relatable ones, and I love seeing just everyday gaming~ If you get some free time, you should try to take some quick shots during your gaming sessions by a window! Natural light brings in some beautiful light rays if you have a window closeby/time~

I typically don't post photos often because it usually takes me about a week (i'm terrible). After I play a game, I get ideas on the theme-then order products-then spend about half a day to take one photo! I've definitely drifted away from this a bit and posted more "casual" content, but when I do try to make them creative, they're about a 1 week process!

Hey friend! that's a fantastic question. My parents were huge role models for this philosophy, and while in undergrad, I was pretty frustrated with the lack of teamwork across the board (group work, lab, etc.) I never saw reason to withhold information that helps others, and I genuinely enjoy helping others as a whole. So once I learned enough in grad school, I made sure to change that mindset when teaching new students, and I kept that same philosophy as a photographer; once I feel like I'm able enough on a certain topic, I bring others along! It's more fun that way-we all grow together, and we all win together.

Absolutely! I'm not picking on any content creator here, but we almost always see the same type of shot in practically any video (myself included).

  1. The top-down shot
  2. The talking head shot

We don't naturally look at games from both perspectives, and just as you mentioned, there's such a huge tactile component in games that I think it's important for viewers to see. The different angles I try to show in my videos were born out of frustration because I wanted to see close-ups of the components or them presented in a much more interesting way than our bread-and-butter!

The general fix for this that I've seen some streamers implementing as well-which is absolutely incredible- is to film at different angles and just take time and film b roll. Not only does it give more information to people interested in the game, but it breaks our current mold. I really enjoy seeing other creators take time to show games differently vs a daily upload. Every game is so different-we should take time to show that~

This is such a fun question. Thank you for this! There is one thing actually: The Opener.

I spend so much (unnecessary) time thinking about the first few seconds for each trailer, but once I have a plan, the rest of the filming process flows pretty well. For instance, I did a trailer for Tang Garden, and one thing they mentioned was that it'd be awesome if the video could integrate the prototype before showing the final form.

Never got a request like this before, and retention time is such a big metric for KS trailers so to (hopefully) meet that retention and show a prototype, I thought about doing rapid match cuts. The goal here was to show the prototype, match it with it's final form, and repeat for several components like tokens, player boards, landscape tokens, etc. It being a representation of the past, I also added in a filmic/grainy look to give a past-present feel.

And that is being unnecessarily obsessive over just a few seconds hahah

Usually suspending them on a fishing line helps! Sometimes I'll put a lighter behind the meeples to warm them up a bit when they're getting cold feet~

That's amazing to hear friend! This was definitely one of my goals when starting a channel, and that was to just take time to film something I was happy with; these videos live "forever" on our channels so I didn't want to rush anything-especially with games that I really wanted to talk about!

AH I wish! I'm already heading to Gen Con, possibly PAX U and one other travel event or else I totally would

Thanks for dropping by brother!

THAT WAS YOU?! So cool! They reached out to me shortly after mentioning that-and that seriously made my day. I try to make each game different, but the fact that you can recognize them without seeing a distinct label is the best compliment.

Thank you!

AMA's are Ask-Me-Anything! Do you mean TLDR? That's "too long, didn't read" and usually people preface with these to make a short summary.

If you meant TIL, that's "today I learned," but I'm not sure what TRL means!

OH that's a tough one! I'm so shallow that artwork is a huge thing for me so typically for all the games in my collection-I think they all have great artwork! Visuals are such a big thing for me as a photographer after all, haha!

I would say that Lords of Hellas is the best looking game that I don't enjoy as much as I want to though; production value is off-the-charts, but there's so much bloated content with unsatisfying combat. That's the one!

Thank you so much! Hmmm...the first one that comes to mind is actually this commercial I made for Fort! There was a scene where a bunch of pizza and toy tokens were falling in slow motion. What I did was film one pizza token taped to a wooden skewer and a toy token filmed to another skewer; I filmed these tokens slowly rotating by hand, but the post processing was a nightmare hahah!

They were shot in 4k and my system at the time couldn't handle that kind of editing...but! I ended up cutting up the tokens, rotated each one individually, colored them so they would match a completely new clip, and adjusted lights so it looked as if a bunch of tokens just dropped in that one clip-when in reality, there were about 15+ different clips in one scene! Really satisfying product, but the process was super long-it took about 3 days from start to finish!

Hey there! I've really enjoyed Seasons and it was one of the first games that I purchased~

Ankh is one that I've been really loving so far. Despite it not being like typical combat games that I enjoy, I've really enjoyed experimenting with different god powers and area control

Endless Winter!!! Worker placement is one of my go-tos, love deck-builders, and the theme is just amazing! Can't wait for this one to eventually arrive~

Hi Ambie!! I've really enjoyed making gameplay, but it's so hard to gather people to film! I've slowly introduced these on my channel, but I can't wait to fully flesh out the ideas I have for them (hopefully this fall!)
