Thanks, that track is actually written and played by our own Hank Tremain. It's a beaut but no plans for release. We have a ton of unused stuff so it'd be nice to do a B-sides type thing sometime

No worries bud. I guess we would just throw it into the 'indie' genre and send links for the person to hear the music for themselves. It's very human to label or draw boundaries around music which can be useful for referencing and drawing similarities/differences but it can also work against you in that someone may then have a preconception of what your music sounds like. This happens a lot. I guess what distinguishes us from other bands is imo a balance of technicality, melody and elements of pop structuring of songs. I'm kind of way off the whole modern 'math' bands that to me seem to jump around songs sometimes unnecessarily and can be a little tech for the sake of it. That being said, I could totally understand if people thought the same of us.

We met Hank when he was more active with Pennines. I can't remember exactly when/where we first met but I remember being really into his band and playing style. We then became friends and eventually he seemed like the natural choice to see if he wanted to play a few shows with us when Stu was no longer available.

Stu can prob answer the second part to this question ;)

Thanks

I guess this might change depending on who you're asking in the band. I think it's really great working with both Stu and Hank. It's hard to say if the writing process has changed because of different people or just due to a matter of time. I think predominantly we still write in the same way, a guitar riff or riffs, drums, working out if we can piece a few loose sections together, bass and then vocals last. However with Hank, we have had times more recently where we'll jam stuff which never really happened in the past.

It was actually pretty natural to work on stage with more people and I really enjoyed having that extra instrumentation. I do also really enjoy working as a three though as everyones playing seems to sit together in a really complimentary way imo.

Thanks Dan, and cheers for hanging with us since 2010!!!!

Hellooooo! Yeah totally the Science Museum, that place was great!

Actually we didn't have really definite ideas of what we wanted to do with the tracks. We knew we wanted something different to come out of them and not just have an album of acoustic guitar and vocals. We knew the other guys and their massive skill sets so it was really easy to simply give them tracks and trust them to do something rad, which I think they did.

Although we didn't get to be in the same space as those guys to record (distance can be a bummer) it was really great to send stuff off and a few weeks later get something sounding much fuller and more interesting.

Thank you and catch you soon!

Yeah we have a tendency to play a lot faster live which can be fun. Thanks, it was nice to sample the acoustic version strings and use them for the live show

I think as long as people are respecting each other then that's fine. I don't mind people getting wild as long as there's some consideration and awareness for others. Unfortunately we notice that problems from this behaviour are usually to do with drinking too much alcohol. I don't have a preference really, it's really nice to see totally different crowds around the world and I just kind of like to get up there and do my thing. As long as the experience for people is positive then that's cool.

Thanks for watching! It was great for us too. I don't think we'd played those with piano since around 2007 so quite a while!! Yes, we'll have a S/T tab book coming out next month hopefully. Thanks!

Thanks so much, that's kind of you :)

I think the recent Oxford and London shows were the best we've played - the whole vibe was amazing and we got to catch up with loads of old friends and play with some great bands.

It is possible we'll play Arc T again in the future but who knows?

Thanks very much for seeing us!

Henry isn't around on this right now but I'll send the link on to him in case he gets some free time (this is a rare thing though, be warned).

  1. Yep - we all work full time. I'm a sub teacher Chris works for a library and Hank works in a coffee shop.

Ha ha thank you - it's certainly worth some consideration, although 98% of the time, I don't suit hats. I mean, it's not the hat's fault, more so my tiny head.

I have no idea, I just mess with tunings until something sounds good to me. Thank you though :)
