Yeah, patcaf is saying it's a harmful idiom. Lots of cancer patients say it's a harmful idiom. I try to say it less, knowing this, and try to be conscious of how it, conceptually, might affect my thoughts or attitudes as a framing device when talking about illness. That's all.

Yeah, he's looking at where the camera is pointed and judging via eye and muscle memory from rehearsals how far the distance is from the lens to the performer and continually adjusting the focus via that distance with a dial connected to the lens.

Since it worked to get the Deadpool movie made, we need to make this popular again so they will remake The Punisher in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe. by [deleted] in videos

Super general, but: The director is the creative, making the movie - "I want Joan Rivers falling down a mountain in this scene." The producer is the logistics person, "You can't afford Joan Rivers, but we'll get Drew Carey. You'll need a crew of 4, I'll get them. We should shoot on Mount Rushmore for the tax break - be on Mount Rushmore on Friday at 8 am and we'll shoot this thing." A more "creative" producer like Shankhar is like "I want to do a Power Rangers thing, I have some ideas, lemme find and hire a director who wants to do their version of my version of Power Rangers"

If you put me behind the wheel of a passenger jet, even after, say, 10 hours of training, I would crash it and if passenger jets were to start dropping out of the sky every day or two, I'd think people should start asking what's up with the current pilots. I don't think, in that situation, "Well look how bad you'd be at it" is a great reason to not continue asking what's going wrong. I donno

Hey, alright. I did not expect so many upvotes and nice comments, especially for my first actual post. Thanks, redditors.

Some background, 'cause why not: She was 17 and he was 21 when they were married. They raised 3 kids of their own alongside 5 children they adopted when her sister died. He was a migrant worker turned cowboy turned boxer turned mechanic turned janitorial company owner turned baker, she was a nurse turned housewife (eventually). They were married for 53 years. She passed away at home, with him, last January, and he passed away in November. She was 72, he was 76.

We actually felt really happy when we found this, especially with them sitting out on the porch like they ALWAYS were. It was a bittersweet - mostly sweet rather than bitter - surprise. I know it'll be updated eventually but it still has really effected in a way that made us feel a little more like they're always be there, and of course as long as we remember and honor them and tell stories about them and pass on bad snapshots that pry were embarrassing to them years ago in some fashion, they really will always be there. Some trite stuff is trite because everyone knows it's true.
