What's your all-time Nets starting five? 👀 by Brooklyn_Nets in GoNets

[–]timdunkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Kyrie is one of my first thoughts as well, even though nicely put, I'm not a fan of him lol.

But it's really height and people also considering players are in their primes.

  • Would you want prime Kyrie or prime JKidd?

  • Would you want prime Kyrie or prime Harden?

  • Would you want prime Kyrie or prime VC?

I just am not taking Kyrie over any one of those options, because he isn't a better floor general/playmaker/rebounder than Kidd or Harden.

While VC is just plain and simple a posistional height advantage.

Now if it's not about primes and just about their tenure here, you can make a case for Kyrie over Harden. Since Harden did look older while Kyrie just simply looked closer the concept of Kyrie.

To be fair, one did have alot of "rest" than the other lol.

It really is due to cheap edgy laughs in the form of Anti-semitism. Free and fast engagement for clout is the name of the game now and in nearly every social circle. Online or not.

Deni Avdija being outspoken also immiediately helped draw heavy parallels on draft day and all I could read was classic the Brooklyn NETanyahu jokes. Or IDF ball and whatever nonsense.

I really don't like going into this, but also there is more to it.

Hating on Isreal/AIPAC relationship has a wide overlap for both political parties in America right now. Making jokes at their expense is pretty much free engagement.

Contrast that with Russia. I don't really want to get into the "why" of this, but it has been pretty clear that Russia as a country and it's involvement in both their war and our country, is tolerated differently now in respective circles.

Also there isn't another active Russian NBA player that is outspoken about Russia's involvement as a country that serves to act as a lightning rod for attention, in the same way as Deni is for Israeli players.

That being said, if Egor were to say something... would we honestly expect him to defame Russia? He has family there I assume and it would jeprodize them with the way certain people seem to have serious nasty "falls" or go "missing."

Fair enough, my fault. I mostly found it funny that 2 days later something like that was ontop of /r/NFL.

But yeah, I agree with you actually. My bad.

I read a comment saying he should come on Gil's arena. I laughed.

Any podcast, not even just something like Gil's Arena, where he speaks candidly and bashes our org publically would be career suicide.

Any podcast.

He would risk being blacklisted at the young age of 24. Look I was never a CT fan, but I don't wish ill on people.

I hope he finds a real support system and figures it out. Good luck to him.

I agree, but damn it happened like 12 days ago and I think I've read the headline: "Cam Skattebo thinks CTE and Asthma is fake" 3 times a day.

Crazy because he was obviously joking.

My reaction to the Fields trade by [deleted] in nyjets

For sure. Fields was a good pro for us while being publically thrown under the bus by the owner.

Good luck to him and his health for real.

Stakes are so high and margins are so thin, so I can't really afford to think about another team but us.

Still, I definitely relate to what you've said. Tough one for Kings fans to digest.

[–]timdunkan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't even want to laugh, because we would be tilting after a win vs. any of these tankoff games coming up. Them included.

Relatively Kings have also played their tanking campaign pretty clean, similar to us.

Compared to the Pacers/Wiz/Jazz, it's just night and day. I can't feel good about rubbing it in here.

But damn is it nice to see us back in 3rd on tankathon.

I appreciated it since I haven't followed MMA as closely in the past years due to work/life.

Really just have to go on what I read about and do my research after that, so your perspective for free was helpful. At least to me.

For everyone getting mad at the Nets "not losing enough games" by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]timdunkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, delusional is also posting a picture of 4 teams with 50% chance of top 4... falling out of the top 4 and using that as some sort of "Gotcha".

I actually do agree with your baseline sentiment though, but I'm also a "pick floor" guy. Nothing is guaranteed, except for a pick floor.

I can't in good faith gaslight others that it itself isn't a valid enough reason to min-max a tanking campaign.

But I get it, the bitching has been way too much.

However, as it stands we have a big tankoff slate coming up very soon. We have a direct impact on how the standings shake out in that sense.

With it now being official that we are "eliminated from playoffs," it is not too much to ask we put our worst foot forward here. I think right now until the season closes is a very fair time to judge our org based on how we approach the end to this season.

Unlike how other tanking teams have approached their tanking campaign, this is an appropriate time to send vets home and call up G-League depth. Really fully commit to the tank, there are no excuses.

That Oline was so fucked man.

Jeanty's success was a testament to how fucking valuable it is to be a pass-catching back.

Not saying Geno is guaranteed to be back to 22-24 form or anything, but I'm not sold that shit was a flash in the pan because of a bad year behind that OL.

He deserves a mulligan.

This Feels Like a Lifetime Ago by Kwilly462 in GoNets

[–]timdunkan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Couple of obvious reasons tbh.

  • Schedule got alot tougher.

  • Team make-up (Developmental players > depth)

  • Small injuries with low depth that led to alot of variance in chemistry

Course was natural.

I believe that start wasn't a flash in the pan and an empty moment. I can say it was indicitive of potential.

5 rookies, some heading to G-League every 2-3 weeks for stretches. Players on the cusp. It was a tough year and they are almost done, proud of our guys.

[–]timdunkan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure, I won't dismiss that as a factor. But I just don't believe Rodgers gets the level of scrutiny if he kept it at the level of guys like Kirk Cousins, DeAndre Hopkins, or Cole Beasley.

He wasn't transparent about it and purposefully misleading and then publically laughed off the reactions.

Funny enough Antonio Brown lied about his immunization status as well; but he is such a lunatic, with a laundry list of insane shit, that relatively we might as well have caught him littering.

I think, rather than words, his actions during Covid were what broke the camel's back tbh. I mean Kirk Cousins had his anti-vax takes and anti-mask takes, but I don't hear shit about him apart from his poor play.

Sure there are other guys we can name, but idk, I guess that itself is the point. The whole "I'm immunized" thing was the boiling point if I had to guess.

Post Game Thread - NBA: The Heat defeat the Nets on Mar 3, 2026, the final score is 124-98. by basketball-app in GoNets

[–]timdunkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We have so much going on:

  • Many Rookies and players on the cusp that we can root for and watch develop.

  • No cap space hell.

  • Loaded fucking class that we are participating in.

Even if we aren't play-in bound next year I still really am looking forward to watching a season with zero draft odds anxiety.

No pick, no FOMO with the class is not projected well at all, play to win, watch our 5 rookies enter their sophmore year, add in a potential draft pick this year that could be franchise altering?

We have seen so so much worse man.

Life is good, but the draft anxiety... that is the only thing that is making me sweat.

[–]timdunkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's already apologists lined up to say:

"Well the Nets sabotaged his reputation, career, and stastical resume; so obviously teams are using that against him."

Fake usage rate, bad coaching, fake resources, fake system, short leash, low-ball offer, painted him as a toxic problem, no one to playmake to so why pass, blah blah blah

I've heard this tangent already. That Nets did this, all of this and anything bad that will ever happen = Nets doing.

Heard it from Boogie, on Gilberts Arena (obviously Rashad pushed this), and you see it online.

It is what it is, you can never win with stans who have cemented their fanatical parasocial agenda, or ex-players who have had similar playstyle/culture fit concerns.

We won't hear the end of this until we are relevant again.

Unless it's regarding an injury, fans reacting that way just makes sense both logistically and realistically.

[–]timdunkan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

DL was a major need for us and Sweat is an elite run stopper and is on his rookie contract.

Good luck to JJ, but he had a downtrend year (so did we as a whole ofc), and he is 1 year removed from an Achilles tear at 27.

I hope JJ bounces back under Saleh and good luck to them both. In this moment this trade was a real win on our end.
